Anime Day 2021: Event Overview

We’re powering up our events to over 9,000! On Friday, August 6, 2021, Sideshow is celebrating Anime Day — and we need all the ninjas, demon slayers, sailor soldiers, and more to join us for this special occasion.

What is Anime Day?

Anime Day is Sideshow’s virtual pop culture holiday that encapsulates all things anime. Whether you love Pokémon, Fullmetal Alchemist, Studio Ghibli, My Hero Academia, or any and all of these incredible shows and films, this event is for you.

Sideshow will be celebrating with rewards, livestreams, game shows such as as Trivial Cahoots and Cobbled Cosplay, and giveaways. Read on to get more details and a daily schedule for this fiery Friday!

Giveaways

During Anime Day 2021, there will be a few different giveaways going on across our social platforms as well as within Sideshow’s official Facebook groups. To help bolster your chances to win, you should follow Sideshow across social media, click those notification bells to be alerted when we post, and keep an eye out for when we go live.

There is one grand prize Gleam that will open on Friday, August 6, and close at midnight the same day. All other social giveaways will be split into flash giveaways and giveaway challenges — check back here later for more details on the prizes and winner names.

Trivial Cahoots

Trivial Cahoots is a little different than our other games because the audience gets to participate LIVE, answering 15-20 anime-themed trivia questions using a mobile device as their buzzer. The winners get Sideshow rewards for their account and bragging rights.

Steal the Deal

Steal the Deal features flash discounts, which are limited opportunities to purchase collectibles at a great sale price. These chances are EXCLUSIVE to live viewers, so make sure to mark your calendars and tune in to see what surprise discounts on anime collectibles will be offered.

Game Shows

Are the character designs and costumes your favorite part of anime? Have you done some serious cosplay for one of your faves?

If you love clothing, makeup, and watching people stress out over time constraints and fashion faux pas, Cobbled Cosplay is the show for you to watch. Unlike our past episodes where people played by proxy, aligning themselves with one of our two Sideshow team cosplayers, contestants are competing for themselves now! Contestants are tasked with recreating a surprise costume in 10 minutes using only household objects and found materials — winner takes home the prize they are cosplaying as.

We started this with our Fan Week Cobbled Cosplay Supersized Showdown: Fan Episode and couldn’t be happier with the way you geeks turned out to test your costuming prowess. We are always in need of Cobbled Cosplay contestants for future events. Learn how to audition on our blog.

Remember, although the competitor spots for Cobbled Cosplay have already been filled, we’d love for you to join us in watching and voting for your favorite look!
