Please introduce yourself to our audience.

My name is Alex A., and I have been working with the Social Media Team for a little over a year.

What would you say are your three favorite pop culture fandoms/licenses? Why do you like them, and how you connect to them as a fan?

My top three fandoms have been in my life since I was a young child. I was raised on Sci-Fi, Comic Books, and video games since I first began to comprehend the world.

Firstly, I would have to start with Star Trek. I am completely moved by this idealistic future that is there for ALL of humanity. Instead of fear and violence as a first response, it is a mission to explore, engage, and make peace with the universe around us. I especially love how they address issues of the past and present, and tackle it from this futuristic, Utopian, peace-seeking point of view. Now, I am not saying that all of the characters are flawless, but that is the point. They each continue to grow and overcome their flaws to create a better, more inclusive and sustainable society.

After that is a tie between my two favorite comic book series: Sandman, and Hellboy. Both of them share one fundamental similarity: That every single mythology and belief is absolutely true. It shows the importance of storytelling as a means to reconcile the world around us with what we still don’t fully understand. In both they also tackle the themes of who you are vs who you are supposed to be.

In Hellboy, the titular character is resisting his destiny in every panel, while in Sandman, Morpheus is incapable of fighting his own. I have read both series so many times from front to back over the DECADES, and yet I still discover new things that blow my mind and fill me with excitement.

Lastly, I have had video games in my life since Intellivision and the Commodore 64 in the 1980’s. Just like with comic books, I gravitate towards games with compelling stories and characters that go beyond punch/stab/shoot action. My favorite games are those with strong social and moral messages, with characters so fleshed out and thought through that they almost become family.

Mass Effect and Dragon Age are two of my favorite series of all time. The connections I felt for Grunt, Kasumi, Mordin and Jack in the Mass Effect series, as well as Morrigan, Leliana, Sera and Blackwall in Dragon Age can still drive me to tears. The relationships you build in those games are almost life-like.

And the same goes for the Witcher series and The Last of Us. Such immersive world and character building to a point that you can get lost in the narrative. I have cried more times in one playthrough of the Last of Us Part II than I have in most movies in 5 years.

What from our catalogue would you recommend for likeminded collectors? What personally inspires you?

Recommendation #1: Asajj Ventress™: Ascension Fine Art Print by Darren Tan (Sideshow)– Asajj Ventress is my FAVORITE Star Wars character. She is neither good nor evil, she is just wholly ASAJJ. No character has ever been as inspiring to me, and this print captures her power.

Recommendation #2: Annora: Strength of Character Doll (Tonner Doll)– Aside from her sculpt and clothing being off the charts gorgeous, there is nothing like a goth aesthetic to catch my eye. The Makeup, hair, and dress are so intense, I cannot stop staring at her.

Recommendation #3: Picoline Hum (White) (Manas SUM)– What can I say other than IT IS A SPACE MOUSE WITH A RETRO FUTURISTIC ASTRONAUT OUTFIT AND LASER GUN!? Picoline Hum is PAINFULLY adorable, to the point it invokes that strange psychological effect where it is so cute I want to squeeze it until it pops!

The world of high end fashion dolls is so new to me but I am quickly becoming obsessed and cannot wait to own my first one.
