Don’t Say It: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Official Trailer

By Sideshow on May 24, 2024

Every family has skeletons in their closet — except for the Deetzes. They’ve got a whole Bio-Exorcist in there! You all know the rules. Say it thrice and pay the price. Well, the Ghost with the Most is back again in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and now, with the official trailer release, we know more than ever about his long-awaited return.

Check out the official Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer below then join us as we resurrect any information floating out there in the afterlife about Beetlejuice‘s 2024 sequel!

Beetlejuice Returns to Lydia Deetz

In the original Beetlejuice film, a horror-comedy cult classic from 1988, a painfully ordinary small-town husband and wife died in a car crash. Suddenly, their beloved home was invaded by an eccentric family from the city and these newly minted ghosts wanted the outsiders out! So what’s an amateur ghost to do when the normal tricks don’t work? Call Beetlejuice, of course.

However, this pesky poltergeist proved to be more than anyone bargained for as both the Maitlands and the Deetzes had to join forces to exorcise Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) from their lives. He even tried to marry teenage Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder), a young girl whose dark outlook enabled her to connect with the afterlife. Now that Lydia is all grown up with a family of her own, it seems she can’t quite escape Winter River. Will their reunion be happy or haunting? Before the trailer starts, Lydia herself says things are about to get intense.

The Deetz Family’s New Members

Presumably, the Deetz family returns to Winter River, Connecticut to bury Lydia’s father. But a funeral in this world is merely an invitation into the next. Lydia’s daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega), defies her mother’s wishes and awakens Beetlejuice by saying his name three times. C’mon, Astrid, she warned you!

Even though it’s been decades, it looks like Beetlejuice still holds a flame for Lydia. In fact, he keeps a framed picture of her on his desk! It would be sweet, maybe, if we didn’t know Beetlejuice better than that. After he’s summoned, the Deetz family is once again swept up in the haunted hijinks of the Ghost with the Most. Against the backdrop of a familiarly frightening Danny Elfman score, we see that Delia Deetz (Catherine O’Hara) is along for the ride as well. Lydia even wears her red wedding dress again!

Who Else Is New in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?

On the subject of weddings, the official Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer also gives us our first glimpse at Beetlejuice’s wife, Delores (Monica Bellucci), who is serving up ghastly glam as only the partner of Beetlejuice could. But are they together? Separated? There’s no doubt that death has not parted them … yet. There’s even a quick shot of her missing ring finger in the trailer, which may be a key piece of the puzzle (pun intended). She will certainly have something to say about Beetlejuice’s enduring fascination with Lydia.

With her inky black corseted dress and stitched up face, Delores is equally beautiful and horrifying. We have a feeling she’ll give the ol’ Juice a run for his money, one way or another. After all, you’ve gotta be pretty gruesome to have anything to do with Betelgeuse himself. New characters Rory (Justin Theroux) and Wolf Jackson (Willem Dafoe) will round out the main cast in this new adventure that is sure to be a hit from here to Saturn. Just watch out for the Sandworms.

It’s (almost) showtime! Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will give theaters a thrill on September 6, 2024. What are your thoughts on the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel? Will you be jumping in the line to see it?
