In storytelling, a sidekick is defined as a close companion or colleague who takes a secondary role to the protagonist. Throughout ancient history, there have been many famous sidekicks, including Enkidu in The Epic of Gilgamesh as well as Patroclus, Achilles’ lover in Homer’s Iliad.
