Deadpool & Wolverine Debut: All the Cameos & Easter Eggs

Despite all the licensing infringements and potential lawsuits, Deadpool has finally entered the MCU! There might be some regrets over in legal, but Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth is now a Merc in the MCU … with a mutant! Deadpool & Wolverine introduces two legendary fan-favorites to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Plus, you gotta hand it to the new villains. Cassandra Nova is an Omega-level threat whose slithering, sinister ways add true body horror on top of DP’s body count. Paradox is a slimy TVA agent whose plotting threatens the Sacred Timeline.

In addition to Wade Wilson, Logan, and their whole squad of variants, there are countless other cameos and sly nods to Marvel lore throughout the film. Did you catch them all? We’ve used our TemPad (don’t tell the TVA) to round up all the major Marvel Easter eggs in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Logan Skeleton

Messy is Wade Wilson’s middle name, especially when it comes to a brawl. Up against the TVA, Deadpool uses the best and nearest weapon he can find — which happens to be the Adamantium skeleton of Wolverine from Logan. He meant to resurrect this version of Wolverine to foil Paradox’s plan except it turns out a Wolverine really can die. But hey, don’t look a gift Adamantium skeleton in the mouth. Isn’t that how the saying goes?

Happy Hogan

Using Cable’s leftover time machine, Wade also makes a side visit to meet with Tony Stark. Unfortunately, Happy Hogan is the one conducting the interview. Wade pleads his case to become a full-fledged hero while a magazine with Pepper Potts peeks from behind the desk. Though Happy recognizes Wade’s spirit, he doesn’t think he’s quite ready for the big leagues.

Wade Wilson’s Family

Years later, feeling a bit dejected and in a definite slump, Wade’s family treats him to a surprise birthday party. Along with his roommate Blind Al and his coworker/BFF Peter, we see Vanessa, Dopinder, Buck, Shatterstar, Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Yukio (!!!). Sadly, the TVA breaks up Wade’s party.

The Avengers

Paradox attempts to sway Deadpool into working for him by offering Wade a glimpse of what could be. Wade watches screens filled with Avengers action scenes, from their first fight with Loki and even the events of the Civil War. He gives a tearful salute to Captain America and witnesses the heroics of Black Widow, Iron Man, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Panther, and other Avengers favorites. There’s even a heartfelt multiversal moment between Deadpool and Thor!

Wolverine Variants

In his quest to find a replacement Wolverine, Deadpool uses his stolen TemPad to travel the Multiverse. He encounters many Wolverine variants, including Brown Suit Wolverine (fighting a Hulk!), Old Man Logan, Crucified Logan (a nod to Marc Silvestri’s iconic Uncanny X-Men #251 cover), Patch in Madripoor, Long-Haired Wolverine, Age of Apocalypse Wolverine, and even a comics-accurate Shorty Wolverine.

For any naysayers against Hugh Jackman being too tall to play Wolverine, that lil runt should dispel any doubts. That is, of course, if all Wolverine’s glistening shirtless shots aren’t convincing enough. Sorry, Cavillrine.

Steve Rogers Johnny Storm

Just when Deadpool finds a potentially suitable Wolverine, Paradox prunes them into The Void. It doesn’t take long for them to encounter a familiar handsome face clad in bright blue. That’s America’s a-… Johnny Storm?! We also got whiplash from that swift combustion of expectations. Plus, you can spot a quick appearance of a Fantasticar!

The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants

Before Deadpool and Wolverine can really duke it out, they’re interrupted by a Mad Max-style caravan. And out pops the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants! Pyro and Toad watch from their vehicles as Sabretooth steps out for a rematch with Wolverine.

Juggernaut

Now that we’re in the thick of The Void, all the cameos really come out to play. From the Fox X-Men movies, we see Juggernaut, Lady Deathstrike, Azazel, and even versions of Psylocke and Callisto. All of these villains work for Cassandra Nova, but each of them still fears the reality-erasing power of Alioth. Oh, and they all live in a giant Ant-Man skull. Fortunately, Wade and Logan make a quick getaway on what appears to be an old Sentinel’s foot.

Dogpool & Nicepool

Away from the wrath of Cassandra and Alioth, our BFFs/worsties meet Nicepool, an unmasked variant of Deadpool, as well as Mary Puppins, AKA Dogpool. Deadpool and Dogpool immediately hit it off but he and Wolverine have to step on it in a Honda Odyssey during their escape. Later, in the car, Deadpool does some Spidey thwips. Shhh … don’t tell Sony.

The Void Resistance Members

Finally, Deadpool and Wolverine meet up with those who have formed a resistance against Cassandra Nova. Alongside The Human Torch (RIP), we see that Elektra Natchios, Blade, Gambit, and X-23, AKA Laura Kinney, are willing to face Cassandra. Laura appeared in an earlier TVA flashback but this Laura is older, wiser, and still ready to kick ass. Plus, eagle-eyed fans will notice a wall from Mount Wundagore depicting the Scarlet Witch.

Pour One Out for the Fallen Homies

In the past, there were more members of the Others, as Deadpool calls them. Magneto, Quicksilver, Daredevil, and The Punisher all fought in the Void’s resistance — but all were killed by Cassandra Nova.

Doctor Strange’s Sling Ring

After confronting Cassandra, she lends Deadpool and Wolverine a sling ring she found from a magician she killed. Not every Doctor Strange is a Sorcerer Supreme and it seems this one didn’t last up against the Big Bad C. Glad he left behind that portal opener, though!

Hunter B-15

Hunter B-15 from the Loki TV series also plays a part in the TVA’s time-maintenance directives. She also shares some unexpected romance with a member of the Deadpool Corps — but we’ll let you witness that magic for yourself.

Deadpool Corps

After landing from the portal in front of Liefeld’s Just Feet store (Rob Liefeld is a co-creator of Deadpool famous for his unique body proportions), Wolverine and Deadpool meet the Deadpool Corps. Ladypool leads the charge in her high heels (a masked cameo by Ryan Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively!).

Among the Corps, we meet Kidpool, Headpool, Babypool, Deadpool 2099, Golden Age Deadpool, Cowboy Deadpool, Watari, Welshpool, and Zenpool. But only one Deadpool variant, Peterpool, is able to wrangle them all up and neutralize the regenerating threats. Thanks Pete!

Post-Credits Scenes

Deadpool & Wolverine does, in fact, have two post-credits scenes. The first, a mid-credits scene, is a Marvel movie montage using outtakes from the Fox movies. It’s a heartwarming look back at the films many of us grew up with and enjoyed as the first live-action Marvel adaptations.

Then, a post-credits scene features uncovered footage from when Wade and Logan are captured with Johnny Storm. It turns out that hothead really did have a lot to say about Cassandra Nova.
