Discover Four Horseman Studios’ Mythic Legions
In February 2015, Four Horseman Studios released action figures from a sprawling fantasy world of their own creation, the Realm of Mythoss. In tandem, they launched the very first series of Mythic Legions action figures. Each new wave expands the realm. From the characters and their weapons and spells to wing attachments, swap-out hands and feet, and even creatures and steeds, every colorful piece of plastic brings this story to life.
Recently, Sideshow announced a collaboration with Four Horsemen Studios to release new Mythic Legions collectibles. Soon the captivating characters of Mythoss will be even closer at hand. But what is the Realm of Mythoss? Who treads its paths, who fights and rules and conquers?
According to Mythic Legions lore, primordial gods and goddesses once roamed the vast universe. However, they despaired at their loneliness. Eventually uniting, two gods named Helyos and Selyne spawned children to populate their utopia. But utopias fail, and jealousy poisons hearts. Envious at his children’s attention, Helyos created a race of abominations in order to extinguish his lover Selyne’s peace and prosperity. Humans were caught in the middle of this conflict.
Mythic Legions Factions
There are four famous foul atrocities, split into the factions Arethyr, Necronominus, Poxxus, and Illythia. Conversely, Leodysseus, Bassylia, Eathyron, and Xylona came about as factions of good. As the kingdom descended into chaos, heroes and villains rose and fell. Eventually, all traces of these original beings disappeared. Yet men, determined to stave off further nightmares, created four great armies inspired by the original saviors. Meanwhile, the evil masses organized themselves in turn, awaiting their masters from the shadow realm.
Learn more about the factions below, and determine where your loyalties lie before the war begins again…
Legion of Arethyr
The Legion of Arethyr is composed of the most bloodthirsty warriors. Ruled by brute force alone, they act impulsively and are prone to violent outbursts. Rage governs these soldiers — as much as you could say they are governed at all. Their leader and god, Arethyr, is a hellish creature who seeks to raze Mythoss to the ground. In his destruction, he aims to bring infernal war to Mythoss.
Circle of Poxxus
Extremely powerful, the Circle of Poxxus is a collection of dark magic users. Their ranks include warlocks, demons, djinn, sorcerers, and witches. Although their faction features less characters overall, the potency of their spells cannot be overstated. Thus they are looked on with fear and awe befitting such powers. Their god Poxxus, who is pestilence incarnate, intends to poison the realm.
Congregation of Necronominus
Unfailingly dedicated to their dark god, the Congregation of Necronominus is merciless. These undead soldiers crave order and exist in a single-minded structure. They share goals and seek only to appease Necronominus — who is considered the most powerful of all four evil gods — himself. His domain is death.
Illythia’s Brood
Constant hunger plagues those who fall to Illythia’s Brood. They consume flesh and blood with ravenous thirst, yet never seem to satisfy their needs. Elegant and expertly trained, these dangerous foes gain power by draining their enemies’ life force. This Brood caters to the cold and calculating Illythia. She wants eternal famine to spread across Mythoss — and will utilize her weapon, the Soul Spiller, to spread her icy touch over the land.
Xylona’s Flock
Xylona’s Flock is filled with those who gain their abilities and forms from nature. Protecting Mythoss’ life, they are a direct counter to the vampiric, life-draining effects of Illythia’s Brood. Members of this Flock have a great affinity for the natural realm and can connect with beasts and beings from the old world. Although they have gained a mythical status and celebrity because of this, the Flock cares only to protect and pursue Xylona’s legacy of hope.
Army of Leodysseus
A hardened and splendorous military branch, the Army of Leodyusseus wears gilded gold and stunning scarlet. They are a proud lot. However, their Army is embroiled in a scandal of power dynamics and family feuds. Still, they serve the first of the Great Beasts, Leodysseus. He is brave, a sword and a shield alike to Mythoss, and directly combats Arethyr’s armies.
Convocation of Bassylia
Of course, evil must have its twin in good. The Convocation of Bassylia uses their magical arts to combat Poxxus. Mysterious heroes, members of the Convocation are often feared by those they wish to protect. But no matter, for these enigmatic scholars are given a higher purpose through their winged serpent god Bassylia, who can shape the universe itself.
Order of Eathyron
Finally, the Order of Eathyron values religious sanctity and nobility above all else. Created to combat the wicked, unholy Congregation of Necronominus, the Order is penitent and unflinching. Unfortunately, they struggle to overcome a period of scandal marred by corrupt rulers. Yet nothing can keep them from praying to their god Eathyron, who once rained down from the heavens to triumph against evil.
