He-Man Villains and their Powers
He-Man is one of the greatest heroes of Eternia. Naturally, the Masters of the Universe combine their efforts to protect their homeworld. And yet, even among these legendary warriors, He-Man just might be the most iconic. Moreover, He-Man’s villains might be some of the most sinister and most powerful around.
First, to understand just how powerful these villains are, let’s take a moment to understand the depths of He-Man’s abilities. Really, it would be fair to say that he is the most physically powerful being on his entire planet. With the Power Sword, and by the Power of Grayskull, he is able to transform into a man with nearly unlimited strength.
However, it isn’t always that way. In fact, for most of his life, he was just Prince Adam, a rather gentle and kind man more interested in adventures than heroics. Alas, The Sorceress granted him access to Castle Grayskull and entrusted him with protecting Eternia. He gained the ability to transform into He-Man, and he took his responsibility seriously. He works alongside Teela, She-Ra, and his many other friends to protect Eternia from evil.
So, now that we know about Prince Adam, let’s meet his villains.
Skeletor
Undoubtedly, the most well-known He-Man villain is Skeletor. Even now, if you close your eyes and use your imagination, you can probably hear his sinister laugh in your head. And honestly, that iconic laugh isn’t even remotely the most terrifying thing about him. In the beginning, he was just a man named Keldor. He was a prince of Eternia, just like Prince Adam. Actually, unbeknownst to both of them, Keldor is Prince Adam’s long-lost uncle.
However, he was selfish and cruel. Keldor only longed for power, and in time, his quest corrupted him. He became the dark mage Skeletor, still aiming to rule over all of Eternia. To do his bidding, he also employs various henchmen, such as Mer-Man. Generally, Skeletor is even more powerful when wielding the iconic Havoc Staff. Depending on the series, it can give him the ability to teleport, to shoot magical energy like a blaster, and unlimited access to dark magics.
Evil-Lyn
Originally, she was Princess Evelyn Morgan Powers. Just like Skeletor, her lust for power led her down a terrible path. In truth, she longs for the power that Skeletor already has. Naturally, she wants more than just his magic, but also the magic from Castle Grayskull. She longs to rule Eternia with the same vicious and cruel command.
Furthermore, depending on the version of the story, Princess Evelyn and Prince Keldor actually knew each other. In some stories, Evelyn even witnessed Keldor’s horrific transformation into Skeletor. In time, she would become Evil-Lyn. She sees the depth of his evil and understands it intimately.
Hordak
At last, we arrive at Hordak. And yes, many feel that he is the most dangerous threat to all of Eternia. After all, while Skeletor aims to rule the world, Hordak is already the conquerer of countless worlds, including Etheria. He leads incredible armies of minions across the galaxy to gain control and power.
Ultimately, it is his technology that grants him incredible strength. His intelligence and organized methods of destruction make him formidable. No, more than formidable. Hordak is terrifying. Truly, his alien technology coupled with thousands of years of dominating multiple planets make him beyond powerful. In a way, he is an immortal evil.
So, who is your favorite villain from Masters of the Universe? And, more importantly, who do you think is the greatest threat? While Skeletor is constantly at odds with He-Man, Hordak threatens entire galaxies!
