An Inside Look at Sideshow’s Headquarters via Deadline
Have you ever wondered what the Sideshow offices look like behind the scenes? Our studio is closed to the public, but reporter Robert Lang from Deadline recently took a trip inside the geeky haven for artists and creatives, giving fans exclusive insight into the world where our collectibles are developed.
31 years ago, Sideshow began as a small artist collective of four friends developing maquettes, models, and puppets for film and toy development. Their shared backgrounds in special effects, model making, graphic design, and other creative outlets combined with a passion for pop culture to eventually evolve into manufacturing their own collectible kits.
Now, Sideshow is a world-class studio that both creates and distributes collectible statues, figures, fine art prints, and more, serving a global collector community dedicated to the most famous and beloved franchises.
(Check out our 30th anniversary celebration for more information about one of the very first Sideshow collectibles ever, based on Bernie Wrightson’s Frankenstein.)
The Unique Office Spaces Inside Sideshow
The Deadline tour of Sideshow shows detailed views into rare spaces in the studio like the private lobby ā decorated for Christmas ā and hallways lined with Premium Format™ Figures, busts, and detailed wall wraps featuring illustrations from our fine art program, Sideshow Art Prints.
This special look at our artistic offices also included a trip inside several departments involved in the collectible prototyping process, where Lang spoke to many of our artists and saw firsthand the multiple stages of statue development.
Step inside our spaceship-themed sculptors’ office, where no one can hear you scream! Each sculptor has their own station, decked out with their own personal favorite collectibles to accompany them while they work on digital sculpting and 3D modeling in this one-of-a-kind setting.
In the Graphic Art Department, several designers prepared the base decal for the Charizard Statue while comparing color swatches. This department is responsible for many graphics, images, and other design elements throughout your collectibles experience, from webpages to the final box designs. Do you have a favorite figure to unbox thanks to their unique package designs?
The inside look at the Paint Department features a panoply of colors and brush tools to recreate the vibrant faces of your favorite fandoms. From the portrait to the base, Sideshow’s paint team works meticulously to capture every speck of detail on comic book heroes and villains, live-action icons, otherworldly creatures, and more.
