Spider-Man 4 Release Date from CinemaCon 2025

At CinemaCon 2025, Marvel finally revealed a title and release date for the fourth Spider-Man film. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026. Notably, this is two months after Doomsday is set to premiere and a year before Secret Wars.

Brand New Day will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). It’s written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, who also wrote No Way Home.

Plus, the Marvel presentation also gave new info about Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. This will be the third film in the award-winning, beloved Miles Morales trilogy of animated films. New images are now available on Marvel.com for the film, which will appear in theaters on June 4, 2027.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows No Way Home

When we last left Peter Parker in the MCU, he was in a bit of a rough spot. By the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Mysterio brought chaos into Spider-Man’s life by exposing his secret identity. During No Way Home, Peter looked to Doctor Strange for help. Surely a spell could fix things? As it turned out, magic only made things worse by disrupting the Multiverse. Peter’s multiversal adventure finally ended with one last spell that erased him from everyone’s memories.

All of this mystical mayhem does take some inspiration from Marvel comics. There’s a recent comic book arc, Brand New Day, that involves a spell about forgetting Peter Parker and his identity. It’s also the follow-up book to one of the most divisive Spider-Man stories ever told, One More Day.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues One More Day comic

To really understand what went down with Spidey in the comics, we’ve got to swing back to One More Day. This 2007 book is the plot predecessor to Brand New Day — and it certainly has its critics. Even Marvel recognizes how controversial this storyline was for Spider-Man. So what the devil happened?

Well, to sum things up, Spider-Man reveals his secret identity in Civil War, with disastrous results. His loved ones are placed in danger and Aunt May is fatally injured. Nobody, not even Tony Stark or Doctor Strange, can help Peter stop Aunt May’s death. Suddenly, a mysterious little girl beckons to Peter, leading to an offer from Mephisto. In exchange for Peter’s marriage to Mary Jane Watson, Mephisto will return Aunt May’s health. Though it’s a difficult decision, Peter and MJ accept. It turns out that little girl was also the child they would never have. With the pact between Spider-Man and Mephisto sealed, Peter Parker’s world undergoes a soft reboot.

What happens in Brand New Day?

Brand New Day picks up right where the One More Day comic leaves off. But this world is entirely different from what Spider-Man formerly knew. Peter and MJ only remember having a bad breakup. Aunt May is alive and somehow, so is Harry Osborn. One small bright side is that nobody remembers Spider-Man’s secret identity, not even fellow heroes like the Avengers or the Fantastic Four.

Plus, Spidey must contend with an all-new set of villains, and even a new hero! Though her identity is a mystery at first, Jackpot is eventually revealed to be Mary Jane. Brand new indeed!
