RIP Stanley Weston, the Man behind G.I. Joe
This week it was announced that Stanley Weston, the man who pitched the G.I. Joe toy line to Hasbro in the 60’s, passed away earlier in the month.
A former soldier, Weston took his experience and turned it into the idea that became the iconic action figure series G.I. Joe, which has since become a core pillar of pop culture through toys, movies, and comics. Weston also helped to create the hit series Thundercats, which has also grown to acclaim as a pop culture classic.
Here at Sideshow, we are continually inspired by the characters and toys Stanley Weston helped to create. We are saddened to hear of his passing, but are confident that his legacy will live on through the many fans and collectors who also love the work that Weston started.
Our thoughts are with his family at this time. Rest in peace, Stanley. Yo Joe and Thundercats Ho!
