Sideshow Featured Collector: Brad Rogers By Chris Spearman Collector: Brad Rogers Location: Garland, Texas, United States How and when did you start collecting? I started collecting about 4 years ago. I saw a Hulk statue in a comic book store on a TV show I was watching. I wondered if that was just a prop or if you could actually get things like that. That led me to the Hot Toys Hulkbuster picture and then to Sideshow. It was all over from there. It’s been fantastic seeing what new collectibles come out and I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s been fun taking me back and doing something that creates a passion in me. I’ve never been overly excited about too many things but I love having a hobby like this. What do you collect? Does your collection have a theme, such as Star Wars™, Batman, etc.? I don’t have a theme. I have some vintage toys that I had when I was growing up so those are meaningful. I really collect items that speak to me in some way. Whether it’s from the amazing skill required to sculpt a figure to the incredible engineering required to put together something like the Iron Man armors. They really are works of art. I will say that I really enjoy the Marvel action figures and Predators. What makes your collection unique? I built my whole game room for just my collection, walls and all. It was just a part of a large space in an out building I have. There are several pieces of furniture that I have built myself as I couldn’t find something exactly like I wanted. I love building things so there are several large pieces that I have built with LEGO. I have also converted all of my battery powered figures to AC using some wire, adapter tubing and patience! That way when I hit the switch, all of the light up features turn on. What are your favorite or the most prized pieces in your collection? The Hot Toys Hulkbuster Deluxe is number 1! I also love my 1/4 scale Thanos by Iron Studios and by 1/3 scale Hush Superman. My favorite head sculpt is Yondu from Hot Toys. What items are on your wishlist? I really wish I could have gotten a 1/2 scale Iron Man statue. The Heartbreaker would be fantastic. I would also like to get Dutch from the original Predator from Hot Toys at some point and I wish someone would come out with a 1/6 scale line from Spaceballs. I would also like the 1/6 scale Ghostbusters and wish Hot Toys would have released The Vulture from Spider-Man.
