How and when did you start collecting?
I’m always influenced by superheros since when I’m a kid as young as 5 years old. I love the image they portrait themselves and the powers they posses. It all started from batman 1989 Michael Keaton movie which my dad brought me to the cinema to watch it. Â The whole thing about batman, his suit, gadgets and bat mobile stuns me. At that moment I told myself, yes that’s my hero! So much of the influence from batman ever since then those movies came out one and another. Never miss any one of batman movies. I fell in love with batman no doubt his just a mortal but he stood up to honor justice. With no super power, his determination sets a great example role model which I look up to. The never give up or quit spirit. How I wish I can be him but that will never happen so at least I have to own his figurine to display it and admire it. Â
The whole statue collecting started off from 25 years old. At that age, financial wasn’t that well so I can only afford small scales like 1/6 & 1/5 from kotobukiya and DC directs. My focus was mainly on batman but through out the years of exposure to comics games arts associated with batman which actually features other DC characters Vaught my attention. Alex Ross justice league is the one which took my most attention. That’s how I dream of having each and everyone of the members from the league in my collection. I started to sell smaller scale and move into 1/4 scale. My first 1/4 scale was batman SS premium format, it was my most satisfying moment when I got him.
I have room space constraint as 1/4 is huge taking up plenty of space but I know I have to fulfill my dream, justice league. I gave up my queen size bed, downgraded to single bed to cater all for them. I did a huge revamp in my room display, what matters to me most important is presentation. Every piece of statue tells a story, I really love and appreciate them. I want to give them the best treatment they deserve it and I increase my dusting frequency to once a week spending my weekend dusting them for few hours. I never gave up on 1/4 scale especially sideshow. They have been doing a great wonderful job on the DC line, huge shout out to Sideshow thank you for making DC come true! So my collection expanded into all 1/4 scale mainly all DC and now I bound myself to DC only. This year is my 7th year of collecting and still ongoing.
