Sideshow Partners with Legendary Hip Hop Visual Artist BUA to Produce Statues, Prints
An award-winning artist, author, speaker and entrepreneur, Justin BUA is internationally known for his signature portrait style, which he has applied to foundational figures from the worlds of music and sports.
Through his partnership with Sideshow, BUA’s artwork will be translated from 2D into 3D for the first time ever. Sideshow is excited to team up with BUA to bring his vision to high-quality collectible statues, limited-edition bronzes, and exclusive fine art prints.
“BUA is a seminal artist with deep roots in the Hip Hop community,” said Anna van Slee, Brand Director. “We are honored to be partnering with him to bring his influential and revolutionary art to life in 3D.”
BUA’s most famous work, “The DJ,” has been in print since 2000 and has sold more 13 million copies worldwide. “The DJ” is one of four paintings in BUA’s Elements of Hip Hop series, which Sideshow is developing as a collection statue.
“I have always had the vision of seeing my art in the third dimension but there was never the perfect partnership that felt right. Sideshow is the gold standard of 3D and I am honored and humbled to work with such a masterful group of professionals,” said BUA.
“These characters are archetypal heroes from one of the most important historical periods of our time—The Golden Era of Hip Hop. Through their artistry they symbolize and evoke unity, brotherhood, and positivity. They are quintessential and important icons that need to come to life,” said BUA.
The Elements of Hip Hop collection will feature characters representing the four pillars of Hip Hop—Graffiti Art, MCing, DJing, and a tribute to the year 1981. In addition to the Elements of Hip Hop collection, Sideshow and BUA are developing a limited edition of bronzes from another one of his iconic paintings, and a series of fine art prints featuring both new pieces and exclusive variants of BUA’s iconic art.
You can currently pre-order The DJ Fine Art Print and Gallery Wrapped Canvas from Sideshow’s Art Print program. Be sure to RSVP on the preview pages to be notified when the Elements of Hip Hop Statues launch for pre-order.
