Sideshow’s History of The Joker Collectibles
The Clown Prince of Crime has left a smile on the face of millions of fans across the globe for years, across comics, films, and even collectibles! Sideshow has created well over 30 different products of The Joker. He is a beloved villain and an iconic face in pop culture. And with a clownish grin so wide, how could you not smile just thinking about it?
Let’s reminisce about a few of our favorite renditions of The Joker that Sideshow has produced throughout the years!
The Joker Premium Format™ Figure (2011)
The first Premium Format™ Figure of The Joker was released in 2011. The maniacal archenemy of Batman was individually painted and finished to exacting standards, each with its own unique quality and detail.
It was a 1:4 scale statue with real fabric elements and a fully lined topcoat that even had poseable coat tails. He fashioned an acid-spraying flower lapel, and held his trademark cane. The Joker Premium Format™ Figure was the perfect beginning to Sideshow’s DC Comics collection.
The Joker Sixth Scale Figure (2013)
In 2013, as a part of the DC Comics Sixth Scale collection, Sideshow presented The Joker Sixth Scale Figure. It was inspired by classic comic portrayals, staying true to his villainous nature. We simply couldn’t leave out the acid flower from his costume!
The figure had two separate heads and an astounding array of accessories, from buzzers to playing cards. The Joker Sixth Scale Figure also included the Joker Fish and his BANG! flag gun, two items that we knew would make our fans laugh. Sideshow’s love for The Joker would only grow and grow from here.
The Joker Life-Size Bust (2013)
Our love for The Joker was bigger than ever when we released in The Joker Life-Size Bust in 2013 as a part of our initial collection of DC Comics Life-Size Busts.
Capturing The Jokerâs distinctively dapper style, this bust was fitted with a tailored fabric dress shirt, tie, and jacket topped off with a silk flower on his lapel. From his chillingly maniacal grin to his gleefully crazed eyes, The Joker Life-Size Bust brought this lunatic criminal mastermind to life in all his glory.
The Joker: Arkham Asylum Premium Format Figure (2015)
When The Joker made the jump to the incredible Arkham Asylum video game series, Sideshow checked in alongside him, launching a collection of statues based on the creepy and unique animation style. Standing 24″ tall, the deranged criminal mastermind was nearly bursting with glee, seizing control of the Arkham Asylum in what might be his most diabolical scheme ever.
He sported an impeccably tailored recreation of his weathered purple pinstripe suit, and of course his very own acid flower. The Clown Prince of Crime waved his ‘Ace of Spades’ revolver in one hand, while the other concealed even more tricks up his sleeve. He stood atop a podium that read “Arkham Asylum” to showcase his great escape.
The Joker & Harley Quinn Art Print (2016)
In 2016, Sideshow teamed up with artist Alex Pascenko to create the one of kind The Joker & Harley Quinn for our Premium Art Print collection.
Ready for chaos and crime sprees in Gotham City, Harley Quinn clings to her Puddinâ with mad love in this fantastic piece featuring everyoneâs favorite deranged duo from DC Comics. The Joker holds on to Harley just as tight as he does to his gun. If you look close, you’ll notice a few easter eggs all over — HA HA HA!
The Joker (The Dark Knight) Premium Format™ Figure (2016)
We revealed The Joker Premium Format™ Figure from The Dark Knight in 2016. Sideshowâs artists captured every haunting detail of Heath Ledger’s unforgettable portrayal of Batmanâs greatest enemy, from his disheveled green hair to the creased lines of his heavy makeup, and chilling scars of his Glasgow smile.
A man of simple tastes, The Joker came dressed to the nines in his âcheapâ purple suit, with layers of expertly tailored fabric costuming. Armed with serious firepower and demonstrating his flair for theatrics, the psychotic mastermind flaunts his calling card. This Premium Format™ Figure mimicked the chaos that Heath Ledger brought to the character, with flames crackling beneath his feet on the base.
But madness wears many different faces.
The Joker: Face of Insanity Life-Size Bust (2017)
In 2017, Pure Arts and Sideshow worked together to create The Joker: Face of Insanity Life-Size Bust. This DC Comics collectible put you face to face with Batmanâs greatest foe, immortalizing the likeness of the infamous Killer Clown. This life-size bust was meticulously sculpted to capture every detail of the Jokerâs madness, from the furrow of his focused brow to creases formed by his signature smile.
Beneath the Jokerâs grim visage, the base was composed of a cascade of cards all featuring the face of a fool. The Clown Prince of Crime played with a full deck, and this time it was Jokerâs wild! The Joker: Face of Insanity Life-Size Bust also came with a magnetically attached Bat Shuriken for the base, because Batsy came to cut the deck!
The Joker (Suicide Squad) Premium Format™ Figure (2017)
In 2017, The Joker returned as a Premium Format™ Figure inspired by Jared Leto’s performance in Suicide Squad. He holds a jeweled cane over his shoulder and a gun at his side. This delirious take on The Joker pops off the screen and takes form as an incredibly detailed on-screen replica. He has an eye for flair, decked out in rings, chains, and even his silver grills in that vicious grin of his.
A variety of detailed tattoos brand the man from head to toe with poker cards, smiles, and quotes. The Joker Premium Format™ Figure is currently in-stock and features mixed media elements, sporting a tailored purple faux-alligator coat, purple and gold fabric boxers, and Batman-themed leggings.
Batman Gotham Nightmare Art Print (2018)
A new twisted take on The Joker made his monstrous appearance in the Batman Gotham City Nightmare Premium Art Print by artist Fabian Schlaga. Fabian Schlaga captured this twisted reality in a hellish landscape featuring a new depiction of the legendary foes Batman and The Joker from Sideshow’s original Gotham City Nightmare line.
The Joker looms large over the city filled with the ruins of the villainâs crazed carnival. Gotham City itself will be forever changed if the Clown Prince of Crime gets the last laugh.
The Joker – Gotham City Nightmare Statue (2018)
The Joker Statue joined Batman in the Gotham City Nightmare collection in 2018. This terrifying collections asks, what would the familiar faces of Gotham become when viewed through eyes filled with fear? âWe took the insanity of The Joker and made his entire makeup a tableau of bas-relief Easter eggs of his entire existence,â Creative Director Tom Gilliland explained.
Currently in-stock, The Joker Statue measures 20â tall, and depicts him emerging from a chemical vat filled with venomous green acid. Beneath copper-colored pipes, the architecture of Gotham City can be seen laying the groundwork for the rise of this nightmarish Clown Prince of Crime. Spot Harley Quinn and Red Hood, a school of Joker Fish and freakish faces, and homages to artists like Jim Lee, Frank Miller, Dave McKean, and more all wrapped up in this warped vision of the Clown Prince of Crime.
Can you find all the hidden secrets?
The Joker Premium Format™ Figure (2018)
2018 also saw the release of The Joker Premium Format™ Figure, based on his appearance in DC Comics. It measures 25â tall atop a pogo-fist base inspired by his own suit sleeve, fitted with a dilapidated carnival game head. A giant purple glove is breaking the Gotham courthouse Seal of Justice, while his patented toxic laughing gas leaks from the wreckage.
A Batusi 8-track hides on the control panel of The Joker’s crazy contraption along with a carved heart with H+J as a symbol of their mad love. The Clown Prince of Crime comes equipped with a Joker Fish tommy gun to put the fin-ishing touches on his elaborate scheme. The Joker also has a custom pair of shoes with âHa!â treads and a âYour Face Hereâ on the soles.
The Joker Statue Animated Series Collection (2019)
Sideshow is never going to stop laughing with The Joker. In 2019, we premiered The Joker Statue, the latest DC Comics collectible in the Animated Series Collection.
Expected to arrive in 2020, The Joker Statue measures 17â tall, inspired by the Clown Prince of Crimeâs unforgettable animated appearance. The Joker Statue features a sculpted costume, vibrantly painted in his signature color scheme. His dapper purple suit jacket and pants are complimented by a sculpted orange vest, a pink lapel flower, and a blue bowtie along with a pair of spats and white gloves. His body language and design perfectly embody the beloved art style of The Joker in animated form, making this statue a must-have for fans.
