Spider-Man’s Invincible Suit
Marvel‘s Spider-Man goes through a lot of costume changes- this guy knows thread! Initially, his costume was home made. Peter Parker actually designed the suit himself while he was growing up at Aunt May’s, and it ripped frequently in his dynamic adventures.
As he got older, his home made suit became more complex and more high-tech. He certainly learned a lot from his interactions with Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers. Not only that, but depending on the storyline, Spider-Man has worked with some of the most high tech companies and inventors in the world. He’s worked for Norman Osborn at Oscorp, he worked with Doctor Octavius, he’s worked with Reed Richards and the rest of the Fantastic Four, and more!
But perhaps the height of Peter Parker’s technological capabilities reveal themselves with the nigh-invincible Spider-Man’s Spider-Armor MK IV suit, featured in Marvel‘s Spider-Man video game. But what makes it so amazing? Let’s find out.
Upgraded Design
The Spider Armor pulls inspiration from his classic suit, and sticks with largely the same classic red and blue look. However, while it does feature a web pattern through the red areas of the suit, the web pattern is quite different. It’s shaped more like armor than a web pattern, which suits the needs of the Spider-Armor. It appears to be more plated and metallic in design. The whole suit seems the glow, and that’s not just an effect!
The Spider logo on Spider-Man’s chest actually does glow, both in the game, and in Hot Toy’s Spider-Man (Spider Armor – MK IV Suit) Sixth Scale Collectible Figure. In the game and the comics, the glow is due to the intense energy the suit stores. With the figure, a unique luminous reflective pattern can be activated with specialized LED lights to expose the hexagonal webbing pattern. The updated Spider-Logo on the front of his costume also houses quite a bit of hidden technology.
Interestingly, the Spider-logo on Spider-Man’s back doesn’t match the logo he wears across the front. Instead, it’s a much rounder and larger. The legs are shorter and thicker in design. The Spider-logo stands out so that anyone watching Spider-Man swing by could recognize him from afar!
His mask offers him constant information about the world around him, letting him scan areas for heat signatures, tracking, X-Ray, and even testing blood samples with just a look. His suit responds to voice commands, not unlike Iron Man’s JARVIS software, but his suit also responds to thoughts, not unlike the Fantastic Four’s costumes.
Upgraded Offense
Not only did Peter Parker upgrade the design with the Spider Armor, but he also upgraded his attacking methods. The suit comes with extremely high-tech web-shooters with enhanced web fluid that is even strong enough to block Iron Man’s repulsor beams. Naturally, the webbing dissolves after a few hours, but before they naturally dissolve, the webs are flameproof and stronger than steel!
Taking inspiration from Miles Morales and his bio-electric abilities, this suit allows him to electrify opponents. The suit also includes sonic attacks, which allow him to combat Venom and other symbiotes more actively. The suit can enhance Spider-Man‘s already incredible strength, and release small Spider-Tracers. Those tracers can be used along with the advanced mask to track nearly anyone, including speedsters like Quicksilver.
Upgraded Defense
Finally, and most importantly, the Spider-Armor MK IV has the most formidable defenses of any Spider-Man suit to date. The suit is made of metallic liquid nano-technology. Peter Parker used all the available resources of his company Parker Industries in order to enhance the defenses of the suit, introducing a brand new ability: a Defense Shield.
The Defense Shield prevents Spider-Man from getting injured by any type of blunt force attack. It absorbs all damage, whether it be from gunfire or punches from powerful foes. It’s been resistant to all sorts of damage, and in the game, allows you all the time you need to plan and strategize your next move against Spider-Man’s adversaries.
There is no suit more well-equipped to protect Spider-Man. The Spider Armor suit offers him greater stealth capabilities, and all without a single word of command. Since it responds to his thoughts, and Spider-Man has his Spidey-sense, it’s able to intuit any necessary adaptation.
So long as Spider-Man wears this suit, he’s practically invincible.
