Tricks and treats Elvira is looking forward to most this holiday season
As Halloween approaches, we couldn’t miss the chance to catch up with the one and only Cassandra Peterson, aka our favorite tongue-in-cheek vamp – Elvira!
From ringing in the holidays, to working with Tweeterhead on festive collectibles of “Yours Cruelly” for every occasion, here are just a few of the tricks and treats she is looking forward to during her favorite time of the year!
Halloween with her biggest fans!
This year the Mistress of the Dark will be spending Halloween in southern California at Comikaze Expo, the pop culture convention she shares with Stan Lee.
“[Comikaze] is always a big deal for me. I love watching it grow, and we always try to do something extra fun for the fans, an art show or a little Elvira museum – something other than just me signing autographs.”
Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo is a three day event held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from October 30 – November 1, 2015. Tickets and more info are available here.
Elvira also returns to Knott’s Scary Farm, where she will star in a spectacular all-new nightly show, Elvira’s Asylum, and a meet and greet inside the Elvira Boo-tique will happen every night of Haunt. Show times are 9:00 & 11:30 p.m. every night until Halloween. Plan your visit here.
Making her list, and checking it twice
Debuting last month on Cassandra’s birthday, Tweeterhead’s new Elvira ‘Scary Christmas’ Maquette is sure to get anyone in the holiday spirit. All dolled up to play Santa, Elvira checks her naughty list, which features the names of her closest friends and family, including Pee-Wee Herman, Jack White (dubbed ‘Jackula’) and her daughter, Sadie. As an additional treat, those who order the special edition can get their name custom added to the list as well!
“I just love Chad from Tweeterhead, I gotta tell you. He’s one of my favorite people to work with. He comes up with these fantastic maquettes – and Trevor Grove, the guy who sculpts these, is just amazing. The guys keep me very involved, and take all of my input into consideration. I completely trust them, knowing it’s always going to be just what I asked for. Between the three of us, I think we’ve really successfully captured the Elvira character every time, and portrayed her larger than life, just the way I always imagined her!”
Gift-giving galore!
Gift-giving season is just around the corner, and the Elvira Dagger Prop Replica from Tweeterhead would be the perfect thing to find under the tree this year!

“I tell you they did an amazing job! I can put the two next to each other and next to the weight, you can’t tell the difference at all. It’s like a fake Rolex,” she laughs. “I used to have a really awesome fake Rolex I loved that I bought for $20 in New York, and I used to put it next to people’s real ones. Theirs would weigh about a pound and mine would be as light as a feather, and that was the only way you could tell. Kinda the same with the dagger!”
A gal of few accessories, the dagger has become one of the most iconic elements of Elvira’s look. We prodded the Mistress and found it also has a very interesting origin story!
“Well we needed a belt, so we went out shopping and found this one at a department store or somewhere. It was leather with a pin that held it together. As time went on the belt wore out and we had to get another made, and at that time the belt maker was asking what we wanted to use to keep the belt together, and someone – I can’t remember who, I wish I could take credit – suggested I oughta have something cool like a dagger. And I loved it! We went out to a movie prop weapons studio, and they designed it, put an E on the back for my name. It no longer holds the belt together, but it was kind of practical in the beginning!”
Speaking of the dagger and its uses, we just had to know…
“Thankfully I’ve never had to use it in real life! But it’s always there handy in case someone does get out of line, it is a very sharp, very real dagger.”
Oh and as for what’s at the top of Cassandra’s wish list this year?
“A new car – I wanna drive a Tesla in the worst way!”
Christmas Dinner
A woman of many tastes and talents, it should come as no surprise Cassandra likes to get creative in the kitchen.
“For my birthday this year Chad gave me some awesome gifts, some beautiful handmade pottery for my kitchen. He knows I love to cook, and especially during the holidays. I’m from Swedish heritage, so I cook these sort of bizarre Swedish dishes for Christmas that people here in LA aren’t really used to. Lutefisk, potatiskorv…”
Stealing Hearts on Valentine’s Day
After Halloween, the Queen of Scream proclaimed Valentine’s Day as her next favorite holiday.
“Tweeterhead did a maquette where I am holding a human heart, called “Your Heart Belongs to Me” and it is just so dark and sexy,” she coos. “I think one of the most brilliant things Chad has done is offer multiple versions of each statue, with wardrobe changes,” she says, referring to the statue’s dress, available in red or black. “It seems like people really like having a choice, or collecting the complete sets!”
And hey, if anyone knows about perfect sets, it’s Elvira 😉
