About
"Humanity craves guidance, and will faithfully submit to anything it deems worthy of love... or of fear."
-Cleopsis, Daughter of Dust

Sideshow is proud to present The Price of Power Fine Art Print by world-renowned artist David Palumbo. The Price of Power features Cleopsis, a character from Sideshow’s original dark fantasy horror property, Court of the Dead.

"Cleopsis was sent to the Mortal Realm by Death to survey the human condition and she quickly gained followers and a fair amount of power,” explains Ricky Lovas, Sr. Brand Manager, who art directed the piece. "This drew the eye of the celestials, and Death had to come in and put an end to her reign. In this painting, Cleopsis is portrayed during her time in the Mortal Realm, with her followers giving her praise."

Palumbo works with paints on canvas, so collaborating with him to bring this scene to life was a unique experience. “[Palumbo] works traditionally, so once you send an idea or brief he comes back with a few rough paint studies that are as cool as any piece of art on their own,” says Ricky. "After that, he goes straight to final and always delivers an incredible oil painting that feels as if it is something you would have studied in art history classes.”

The Price of Power is Ricky’s favorite piece of Court of the Dead art. “In this painting, Cleopsis comes off as highly respected by her followers, rather than just being a dictator,” Ricky elaborates. "She got a little power hungry, but it never turned in to a volatile situation. She did her job too well and got dragged back to the Land of the Dead because of that.”
