Rotunda Rex
“When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth.”
In the original Jurassic Park, our final glimpse of the magic of the cloned dinosaurs is of the escaped Tyrannosaurus-Rex just having fended off the ferocious Velociraptors for our heroes. She bellows out an earth-shattering roar in the visitor center rotunda as a banner reading “WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH” gently falls down in front of her. Without a doubt, the scene is one of the most memorable in cinematic history.
Long-time fans of Chronicle Collectibles know we have wanted to do this particular piece ever since we started making Jurassic Park statues. After countless hours of research and design, we are finally ready to bring forth our new limited edition 1:9 scale T. Rex in the Rotunda statue. Yes, you read that correctly, 1:9 SCALE! At approximately 21.5” tall by 22.5” in diameter, this is the LARGEST Tyrannosaurus-Rex beyond our 1:5 full-size Tyrannosaurus-Rex. This also means that the T. Rex in the Rotunda statue is in scale with the Owen & Blue statues.
This magnificent piece presents T. Rex with her mouth in a roaring pose as she stands defiantly atop a scene-specific circular base. Underneath her is a cutaway revealing dinosaur fossils buried underneath. The “WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH” banner seemingly defies gravity as it drapes down below her. And sharp-eyed fans will be pleased to see that Rexy comes battle-damaged with wounds inflicted during the Velociraptor fight.
With the 1:9 scale T. Rex in the Rotunda statue, Chronicle has brought CG glory to life and captured one of the greatest scenes in dinosaur film history! If you’re a Jurassic Park fan, you’ll deeply regret missing out on this 1:9 scale T. Rex in the Rotunda statue once it’s sold out.

Moreover than being on of the 100 greatest films of all time, this masterpiece catches the last moments of the movie, the exquisite cinematic effects and for all who had loved and dreamed Dinosaurs it pictures in our time the greatness of an extinct Era in a paradox between the fossiles, which were dislpayed in scene, the fight of the living ones and the banner referring 65 millions back. In other statues the banner is on the Dinosaur in this one is just as seen at cinema.
I knew Roberta’s (that’s her name) dimensions, but when she comes out of the box she still surprised you how big she is. It’s a good sculpt and nicely painted. This has to be one of the top 5 movie dinosaur scenes and I’m impressed and pleased. The banner, which is made of rigid material, is quite effective at looking like a fluttering ribbon falling to the floor. I’m glad they didn’t skip it.
If you’ve been fascinated by the T-Rex since childhood like I have, Roberta will fulfill your childhood fantasies. I’ve got a couple of color changing led spots on it and she looks great in purple at night.
Roberta is hollow, the base might even weigh more than her. She still is very substantial, nothing cheap about her.
Everyone asks about this big Dino, it’s impossible not to turn your eye to it. The quality is far better than I ever thought it would be
I was a little anxious about this piece, after seeing other Chronicle paint failures; but wow, they really hit it with this one. I was planing first for the Prime One rotunda, but I finally went for this one for screen accuracy, and I prefer a not too crowded base. The Rex sculpture is impressive, you can see the platform the design was from the ILM files, precisely the ones used for the Visitors Center scene. And the decision of making the plolystone banner is like the cherry on the cake, perfect. I'm just planing to do some small paint detailing on the head, arms and feet, but that's just because I love detail within the details, but just as it is, it's an amazing piece.
This statue is far better than I imagined it to be. It's perfect and the teeth and scratches look just like the movie version. I can say it is better than the Prime 1 Studios version. The size is the right scale in my opinion and the base is a medium size that can fit in most places. If you want this iconic scene in your collection do not hesitate to buy it before it becomes extinct 😁
