Army of the Dead Trailer Breakdown

Netflix released the first official trailer for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead.

The trailer introduces us to the characters and to the particularly unique world of Army of the Dead. Whereas most zombie movies present a mindless hoard of brain-eating monsters, Army of the Dead reveals a new type of zombie: the Alpha Zombie. Alpha Zombies are not what you think they are. They’re smarter, faster, and organized.

With a legion of bloodthirsty undead running through the streets of Las Vegas, the town was abandoned. Everyone left almost immediately. That meant that they didn’t have enough time to get all of their belongings. In the case of one particularly hard to crack vault, underneath the Vegas strip, they left behind 200 million dollars. The mysterious and wealthy Hunter Bly offers Scott Ward 50 million if he can retrieve the cash in the center of the zombie outbreak.

Ward, played by Dave Bautista, assembles a team of mercenaries. They’re an odd bunch through and through, but they’re undoubtedly effective. But are they ready for the legions of Alpha Zombies, and yes, even an Zombie Tiger.

Army of the Dead is written by Zack Snyder (Man of Steel, 300, Zack Snyder’s The Justice League), Shay Hatten, and Joby Harold. The film stars Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Omari Hardwick (Kick-Ass, Power), Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi,  Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada (Mortal Kombat), Tig Notaro (Star Trek: Discovery), Raúl Castillo (Knives Out) , Huma Qureshi, Samantha Win (Wonder Woman, Justice League, Mortal Kombat, Scott Pilgrim, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Michael Cassidy (Batman vs. Superman), Richard Cetrone (Batman vs. Superman, Solo, Captain America, Wonder Woman), and Garret Dillahunt.

Army of the Dead will premiere in select theaters and arrive on Netflix on May 21st.
