Captain Marvel Composer Revealed, Netflix Saves Lucifer from Cancellation, and More!

Composer Pinar Toprak will officially create the score for the upcoming Captain Marvel film from Marvel Studios. Captain Marvel will be Marvel’s first female-led solo feature, and Toprak will be the first woman to score a film for the studio. Her other work includes music for the video game Fortnight, as well as for Syfy’s Krypton series. Captain Marvel soars into theaters on March 8th, 2019.

Actor Jesse Rath has been upgraded to a series regular for season 4 of Supergirl on the CW, while Jeremy Jordan will step down to a recurring role. Rath joined the show in Season 3 as the hyper-intelligent hero Brainiac 5, while Jordan has been a series regular since Season 1, playing the tech genius Winn Schott. Supergirl’s Season 3 finale airs on June 18th on the CW.

According to Deadline, Netflix has saved the fan-favorite series Lucifer from cancellation. Earlier this year, Fox decided not to renew the drama for a fourth season, which sparked a massive fan outcry on social media. Based on a Vertigo comic book series, Lucifer is a fantasy drama about the Lord of Hell opening a nightclub in Los Angeles.

Veritgo Comics alum Tom Peyer is one of several comics veterans involved in the launch of AHOY Comics, a new independent publisher. AHOY comics stands for Abundance, Humor, Originality, and Yes! and the company aims to create unique offerings of comic book magazines. Their oversized issues will be over 40 pages, with prose, original artwork, and poetry supplementing the comic stories. AHOY Comics begins publishing this September.
