Cute Halloween Podcasts

What’s Your Sign?

You can feel the atmosphere change as soon as October starts. The magic in the air is tangible and anything feels possible. Embrace magic and ancient science with this hilarious astrology podcast that makes you feel like you’re at Hogwarts in Professor Trelawney’s divination class.

The cast is composed of three laugh-out-loud funny comedians. It’s described as, “a comedy podcast for astrology lovers AND haters.” With kooky and relatable hosts Julia Loken, Stevie Anderson, and Lisa Chanoux, it’s hard not to love this series. Soon, you’ll find yourself talking smack the second a Leo with their second house in Sagittarius and third house in Gemini wants to talk about their latest spontaneous vacation again. I’m telling you, a few episodes of What’s Your Sign? will change your life.

The Halloween Haunt

This podcast is quirky, funny, and hosted by someone who proclaimed himself the Halloween Hunter. If this sounds over the top, it is. The premise is simple enough: the host discusses Halloween history, traditions, and beloved spooky stories. The audio effects tie in nicely, too. It’s like listening to a reading of the Monster Mash.

Fans of FrankenBerry and Count Chocula cereal will love The Halloween Hunt. It has the special kind of cheesy Halloween vibe some of us truly enjoy.

Creepy Halloween Podcasts

Snap Judgement Presents: Spooked

What’s creepier than listening to someone recount their own paranormal experiences? Listening to Spooked is, except it’s possibly worse. Now listeners must brace themselves for true supernatural stories hosted by the grandson of a seer and a person who has witnessed an exorcism firsthand.

Host Glynn Washington warns these ghost stories won’t abandon you afterward. “The encounters in Spooked will stay with you beyond each episode and leave you questioning your understanding of reality.

Follow along with the fictional and frightening life of Anna Limon. She’s a caregiver to Sally Martin, an elderly woman with dementia. Everything takes a turn for the worse when Sally looks through a box in the attic and completely loses it.

Mabel is structured with an all too realistic setup. Listeners must overhear voicemails sent from Anna to Mabel, Sally’s granddaughter. Let me tell you, there is something totally unsettling about listening in on someone else’s voicemail—especially when that voicemail sounds like someone is totally losing their marbles. Mabel deals with ghosts and other unsettling themes that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

Similar to the aforementioned podcast, Limetown is another popular fictional series that began a few years ago. Just 2 months after the first episode, Limetown was the #1 iTunes podcast in America. Its popularity isn’t slowing down anytime soon either. You can stream the Facebook Watch series starting October 16th, and the show stars Jessica Biel as the protagonist. I’m telling you, it’s good.

So, what’s so compelling about Limetown? The story is told by Lia Haddock, an investigative journalist who attempts to uncover the disappearance of over 300 people in a research facility. Many have compared Limetown to The X-Files. So, you know, if that’s your thing, you may want to invest this Halloween season to listening to the podcast and watching the Facebook series.

Scary Halloween Podcasts

The NoSleep Podcast

Listeners know they’re in for serious scares when The NoSleep Podcast instantly warns: “This is a horror fiction podcast. It is intended for mature adults, not the faint of heart.” As someone who has listened to a handful of stories, I can verify these stories are frightening in the same way Stephen King novels are.

It’s no wonder the series is in its 13th season. Recent episodes can also be up to 2 hours long. 2 HOURS of narrated horror stories with chilling music and related to nightmarish themes like abandoned houses, wendigos, and traveling into the deep dark woods. For one of the scariest stories to start off with, skip to, “Soft White Damn”. This story in particular will make you second guess opening the door to trick-or-treaters.

Video Palace: A Shudder Original Podcast

Whatever you do, don’t press play!

Video Palace is created by Shudder, AMC Network’s first streaming service devoted to thrillers and horrors. Even scarier than that is its producer, Michael Monello, who is the same guy who scared the bejeebies out of moviegoers with The Blair Witch Project.

If you’re craving the worst time this Halloween, Video Palace has your name written all over it. It’s a 10-part series that starts with Mark Cambria, who begins talking in his sleep in an unidentified language after watching a mysterious VHS tape. Everything else that happens is for you to find out…but you have been warned.
