HBO Orders Sci-Fi Comedy “Avenue 5” From Veep Creator

Writer Armando Iannucci’s space comedy Avenue 5 has received an official series order from HBO. The series is set 40 years in the future and follows the space tourism industry, with stars like Hugh Laurie, Rebecca Front, and Ethan Phillips set to co-star. Iannucci is best known for creating Veep on HBO, which is currently in its final season.


Jerome Flynn Cast in Amazon’s The Dark Tower

Game of Thrones actor Jerome Flynn has officially joined the cast of Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of The Dark Tower. He will play a cowboy, but beyond that his role is currently unknown. Flynn joins previously cast actors Sam Strike and Jasper Paakkonen as the Gunslinger and the Man in Black, respectively.


Picard Spinoff Series Begins Production

Writer Michael Chabon has confirmed that the currently untitled Captain Picard series has officially begun production. CBS All Access announced the series earlier this year as an addition to their slate of Star Trek content. The Captain Picard series does not currently have a release date.


David Leitch and Kelly McCormick Sign First-Look Deal with Universal

According to Variety, director David Leitch and his producing partner Kelly McCormick have signed a first-look deal with Universal. Under the deal, the duo will direct and produce other action thrillers and more for the studio. Leitch is currently known for his work on action flicks like John Wick, Hobbs and Shaw, and Deadpool 2.
