Mattel Launches Films Division, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Sneak Peek Trailer, and More!

Sony has released a new sneak peek trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film. In this film, Miles Morales must learn to become a spider-hero with the help of other characters from across the Spider-Verse, including Peter Parker, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Man Noir. The animated feature opens in theaters on December 14th.

Actress Maria Sten has joined the cast of Swamp Thing, the upcoming streaming series from DC Universe. Sten has been cast as Liz Tremayne, a childhood friend of the lead character Abby Arcane. Earlier this week, Crystal Reed was cast as Arcane herself. The series is expected to debut in 2019.

Toy company Mattel has announced that it will be launching a new division aimed at developing movies based on its most popular brands. Mattel Films will be helmed by producer Robbie Brenner, known for her work on Dallas Buyers Club and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. Mattel currently develops brands like Hot Wheels, Barbie, and more.

AMC has announced that the Season 9 premiere of The Walking Dead will have an air time of nearly 90 minutes. The premiere episode, directed by Greg Nicotero, does not yet have a title. The Walking Dead returns with new episodes on AMC on October 7th.
