Stay InsideShow Pop Culture Picks – Day 24

Due to social distancing, many of us have found ourselves with more time inside than usual. Many of our schedules have changed, giving us the opportunity to try new things. As fans of pop culture ourselves, Sideshow’s Staff is happy to share a few suggestions to help you fill your newfound time with high quality content.

To help encourage everyone to Stay InsideShow, every day this week we will be recommending one film/series, one comic/book, one board game, and one video game that you can enjoy while you practice safe social distancing. These picks are the best of the best, curated and personally suggested by our very geeky staff.

Hunters (Amazon Prime)

Nazi hunters discover hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials in 1977 New York City, conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the United States. The Hunters set out to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans.

Robopocalypse by Daniel H Wilson

Goofy name, but an awesome book! Solid sic-fi, with a really clever format. A series of “survivor stories” that twist, turn, and interweave to tell a broader picture of the time Big Rob decided to party.

Board Game

Dungeon Mayhem (2-4 players, 15min)

For those who want the fun of a Dungeons & Dragons battle without all the dice! This Wizards of the Coast official card game includes 4 character decks- Barbarian, Rogue, Wizard, Paladin- and all players take turns casting spells and slinging weapons out of their cards. Watch your shields and health- last person standing takes the dungeon’s treasure!

There is an expansion that includes two more official D&D characters- Minsc the Ranger (with Boo the Hamster!), and Jaheira the Druid. Toss in the Monster Mayhem expansion deck and pit Beholders, Dragons, and Owlbears against the heroes for TOTAL DUNGEON MAYHEM!!!

A Short Hike

This is a peaceful game with only one goal: make it to the top of Hawk Peak to get cellphone reception. But all the way there you can meet sweet characters, gather golden feathers, and just get lost just enjoying your travel. The game isn’t particularly long, but it’s calming and kind.

Check out some of our recommendations, and as always don’t forget to Stay InsideShow!
