The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Then & Now- Let Your Geek Sideshow Podcast

In honor of the Battle of Hogwarts, Susan and Kitty are conjuring up a magical retrospective on the Harry Potter (now ‘Wizarding World’) frachise.  This fandom has stepped beyond the books into a new series of films, an immersive theme park, and even a real world Quidditch league!  Accio nostalgia, because this is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Then & Now.

What happens when pop culture enthusiasts from different generations swap tales of their favorite modern and classic stories? Let Your Geek Sideshow presents… Then & Now– a pop culture podcast!

Ten points to Ravenclaw as Susan and Kitty deep-dive into the Wizarding World franchise, which has come so far from a humble series of books about the Boy Who Lived. No longer just focusing on Harry Potter, this fandom has grown exponentially since the blockbuster release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in bookstores. Remember when pre-ordering books used to be an event?

Since the conclusion of both the core book and film series, Harry Potter’s magical universe has gotten new life in the form of the Fantastic Beasts film series (a five-movie saga) as well as the Pottermore website, a hub for all things Harry Potter. The magic transcends the media- identifying your Hogwarts house is just as popular to some as astrology. Do you know your wand core? How about your Patronus? All of these things are nerdy identifiers that fans have taken to heart to express their love for Harry Potter and everything it represents.

Some fans have even taken to creating a real-world Quidditch League for hopeful seekers, chasers, beaters, and keepers- but no, they don’t really fly. No matter how much or little of the new material fans have engaged with, there’s something that drew them to the world of Harry Potter, and its magic transcends the book binding. The most important thing to remember is that Hogwarts will always be there to welcome fans home. Always.
