Tom King to Co-Write The New Gods Screenplay

Director Ava DuVernay has confirmed that Eisner-winning comic writer Tom King will co-write the screenplay for DC’s The New Gods. Created by the legendary Jack Kirby, The New Gods focuses on the twin planets of New Genesis and Apokolips, morally opposed but equally powerful worlds. There is no current release date planned for The New Gods film at this time.


Netflix Releases The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Teaser

Netflix has released the first teaser for the upcoming series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. This series will serve as a prequel to the Jim Henson fantasy classic, in which three young Gelflings inspire a rebellion against a cruel emperor. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance begins streaming on Netflix on August 30th.


Jake Johnson Cast in ABC’s Stumptown

Spider-Verse actor Jake Johnson has officially been cast in ABC’s upcoming series Stumptown.  Johnson will play Grey McConnell, best friend to Cobie Smulders’ detective Dex. Stumptown, based on the Oni Press graphic novel of the same name, will premiere on ABC this fall.


Warner Bros. Debuts Official Trailer for The Kitchen

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first official trailer for The Kitchen, a new film based on the Vertigo comic series of the same name. The Kitchen stars Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss as mob wives who take over the Hell’s Kitchen mafia when their husbands are imprisoned. The Kitchen opens in theaters on August 9th.
