Get ready to meet this month’s featured curator, Kyle M. from Sideshow’s Customer Support team, as he shares how he likes to dive into his favorite fandoms through fashion and function!

Please introduce yourself to our audience.

Hello! My name is Kyle M.! I’ve been with Sideshow for a year now and I currently work in the Customer Support Department.

What would you say are your three favorite pop culture fandoms/licenses? Why do you like them, and how you connect to them as a fan?

My top 3 fandoms would definitely have to be the MCU, Sailor Moon, and Avatar: The Last Airbender! I’m an avid fan of anything that stands for representation and all three of these series definitely make you feel like you are a part of the adventure with every tiny detail.

What from our catalogue would you recommend for likeminded collectors? What personally inspires you?

Recommendation #1: Captain America: Endgame Version DX Nendoroid (Good Smile Company)– My most recent obsession in collecting has been Nendoroids by Good Smile Company! These little guys are wickedly adorable and come with so many accessories like extra faces for alternative expressions, extra limbs, and weapons/products to hold.

I own a handful of them now and my favorite part about them would have to be the paint quality of these little guys. You would think for their size, they would quite a bit of difficulty panting some tiny areas, but man, they are well worth their price. The next one I’m thinking about picking up would be this Captain America from Endgame. He’s both badass and adorable!

Recommendation #2: Spider-Man Classic Mini Backpack (Loungefly)– I’m a huge sucker for accessories like the many styles of Loungefly! I own 25-30 backpacks myself, and my collection ain’t stopping anytime soon. The one thing I always note about these amazing products is their quality.

I have had some of their bags for 3-4 years and they have lasted through the most wretched days of mistreatment. If you ask anyone in customer support, you will hear that I bring a new Loungefly backpack everyday to work. My personal favorite design (that I own as well) has to be the Spider-Man Mini Backpack.

“Style…or…substance…hmmmm?”

Recommendation #3: Sailor Moon Moon Stick (Bandai) AND the Sailor Moon Transformation Brooch Disguise Pen Set (Bandai)– I have to admit that I’m VERY excited that Sideshow carries Sailor Moon Proplicas! Bandai has this line of prop replicas from the show called Proplicas and they are such great collection of items for Sailor Moon fanatics, such as myself.

As much as I love that these replicas already come with awesome light up functions and cool sound effects, the fact that the Transformation Pen is actually a working pen is what blew my mind. I own a few myself and have yet to collect these fine pieces, but I’m very much looking forward to adding these to my own collection. I will now be ready if there is attack by Queen Beryl during a meeting!
