I have been a long time fan of Transformers, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. Collecting really started for me back in the 90s with the Special Editions of Star Wars, and finding Transformers from my childhood.
I am mostly focused on 12″ figures, starting with Darth Vader from Sideshow and a few Hot Toys. My wife and I agreed to keep the collection focused on 2-3 properties and to collect the things we really liked. So we have focused on the nicer more articulated figures, instead of a “gotta collect them all” mentality.
We had this custom mural done in the spring of 2015. It was my wife’s idea, and I loved it. Our painter used items in the collection to get perspective and for some of the details.
We have a range of items, some signed by actors, some vintage, and some hand made by fans, and friends. My 1:1 scale trooper helmet, modeled after IG-88 (or the tin man) is a real conversation starter.
His favorites:
The helmet I won at a Make a Wish auction (TK-88), and my Jabba the Hut set up, I worked very hard to acquire. And the 1:1 R2-D2 I have been building over the last 6 years.
On his wishlist:
The Sideshow 1:6 C-3PO, and Avengers Age of Ultron Hawkeye for items announced/released. I would also really like to see Sideshow go back and do a Jedi Luke again, I think with their new skills and painting he would look amazing!
