Go to Space in This New Featurette from Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

Luc Besson first read Valérian and Laureline, written by Pierre Christin and illustrated by Jean-Claude Mézières, when he was 10 years old and was immediately captivated by the French comic series.

Now, almost 50 years later, he’s been able to create a film that brings Mézières’ gorgeous visuals to life in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. The film stars Dane DeHaan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline, two space and time-traveling agents tasked with keeping order in the universe. Valerian is the culmination of years of hard work and the patience of waiting for the technology to catch up with the vision Besson is trying to create.

This new featurette titled “See You In Space” goes behind the scenes of the film and explains why Besson felt it was finally time to make the film he’d envisioned for decades. The visuals are amazing and it’s clear there’s a lot of passion going into the making of this film.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets drops into theaters on July 21st. Will you be hopping on board? Let us know in the comments.
