The Mandalorian and Grogu is set in the time period directly after the fall of the Empire. While the Empire is officially out of business, remnants of the corrupt regime still operate unofficially. Din Djarin and Grogu got a taste of this lingering corruption with Moff Gideon, but it seems new threats are rising up in the galaxy. Specifically, the Hutts.
As fans know from Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi™, the Hutt criminal empire is a sprawling underworld network of shady deals and shadier figures. From the trailer, we see The Mandalorian interacting a pair of Hutts, one of which is Jabba’s son, Rotta the Hutt. Plus, Mando engages in battle with a Hutt in a gladiatorial type arena.
Who Is in The Mandalorian and Grogu?

Of course, Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, The Mandalorian, who leads his beloved foundling across the galaxy. Together, they’re continuing Grogu’s training in how to be a Mandalorian warrior. The little guy even receives more armor to wear! Not to worry though, Grogu is still channeling the Force as he’s seen taking apart a pesky droid. Once a Jedi, always a Jedi it seems.
In addition to the titular duo, Sigourney Weaver plays Colonel Ward. She’s a Rebel leader who is trying to prevent another intergalactic war, enlisting the help of Mando and Grogu. Jeremy Allen White will play Rotta the Hutt and Steve Blum returns as Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, a member of the Ghost crew from Star Wars: Rebels™. Even the tiny Anzellans are making a comeback. However, a tall menacing figure in a wide brimmed hat definitely steals the show in the middle of the trailer. No, that big hat doesn’t belong to Cad Bane. This bounty hunter is named Embo.
Who Is Embo?
Embo is a Kyuzo bounty hunter from Phatrong. With his bowcaster, and a signature hat that doubles as a boomerang, Embo is a formidable opponent. He first appeared in The Clone Wars™ animated series as a hat-for-hire. (Fun Fact: Embo was voiced by Lucasfilm President and CCO Dave Filoni!) Surprisingly, in his debut Embo worked alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano.
Later, however, he became a bodyguard for the Hutt Grand Council and returned to his evil ways with plots against both Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and Senator Padmé Amidala. Embo even worked for Cad Bane, Count Dooku, and Asajj Ventress. His likeness was last seen in graffiti art created by Sabine Wren.
