Some slasher flicks, like Friday the 13th or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, have a distinctly summer feel to them. Others, like Krampus or Black Christmas, put the fright back in holiday festivities. But on Halloween Night, you really have to make the right choice for what you watch. Nobody wants to kill the mood.

Halloween (1978)

All Hallow’s Eve calls for atmosphere — murky lighting, creeping killers, and a tense soundtrack. When you do your screening of the original Halloween, everybody will be running scared from the Boogeyman. Welcome home, Michael Myers.

If this is your pick, then you’ll probably want to mask it up with other iconic vintage slashers like Jason Voorhees. Who can resist the strong but silent type, anyway?

Not every Halloween has to be filled with trial and terror! In fact, it’s perfectly fine to just brew up a little hocus pocus and enjoy something nostalgic like this Disney flick.

Greetings, fellow creature of the night. When the moon rises, so do the stakes. You love a horror flick that establishes well-known tropes and features a baddie with killer style, plus a story you can really sink your teeth into!

If this Dracula movie is your pick, might we suggest Bram Stoker’s Dracula or even The Wolf Man? Both are monster movies you’re sure to moon over for ages.

If you’re going with Jack Skellington’s holiday hijinks, you can keep slaying the Tim Burton vibe with Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, and Vincent. Alternatively, you can venture into the spellbinding world of Coraline or visit the small-town magic of Halloweentown.

Ooh, you’re an evil one — but you certainly fool everybody with that sweet exterior. Just like Sam! We love a good trick with our treats. Just don’t break any of those unspoken holiday rules.
