POLL: The Most Anticipated Geeky Releases of 2026

A new year is almost here, and that means new movies and TV. Yay! As the teaser trailers release and the excitement ramps up, we want to know: What’s got you the most impatient? Which upcoming media projects are you awaiting with bated breath, counting down the days until they’re available for viewing?

While there are plenty of pop culture releases outside of the small and silver screens, we’re focusing solely on television and film in this article. Essentially, we’re covering the releases you can stream or purchase a theater ticket to in 2026. So, what will you be watching?

January 16 – 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

A direct sequel to 28 Years Later, this horror film picks up exactly where our characters left off in the previous installment. Early footage from The Bone Temple shows previously teased characters taking on much bigger roles, including the maniacal Jimmy and his pack of cultists. Look out for more action-packed mayhem and astounding life lessons from this fan-favorite zombie series.

January 18 – A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Return to Westeros with another Game of Thrones spinoff. Like House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms explores life during House Targaryen’s seemingly unconquerable reign. The upcoming fantasy series follows Ser Duncan, a down-on-his-luck knight looking to change his fate through tournaments and tests of valor.

March 6 – The Bride!

Are those wedding bells or a death knell? Well, here comes The Bride! A modern, musical adaptation of The Bride of Frankenstein, this fascinating film is already making waves in the horror fan community. It looks wholly unique and refreshing, with some of the most talented performers in the industry. Cinema … it’s alive!

March 10 – Netflix’s One Piece Season 2

Get ready to set sail on another high-seas adventure. The Straw Hat Crew embarks on another step in their journey to make Luffy the king of all pirates in Netflix’s One Piece season 2. Colorful and comedic, the live-action series promises tons more of the humor and heart that made its first season exceed all expectations.

April 8 – The Boys Season 5

The Boys wraps up its five season run in April. Part parody, part commentary, and all blood and gore, the super hero show has taken fans on a rollercoaster ride of plot points since its debut. Now, The Boys promises an end to all the madness — but in the most insane way you can imagine, plus the addition a beloved acting duo from Supernatural.

Now, The Mandalorian and Grogu™ teaser trailer didn’t offer much by way of plot details. But who needs to know the story when Grogu looks that cute? Join Din Djarin and his adopted son on their flight through a galaxy far, far away in this long-awaited Star Wars™ feature film.

June 12 – Disclosure Day

Steven Spielberg’s mystery sci-fi project caused quite the stir with its sudden appearance — sans much marketing, information, or media buzz. But now that it’s out there, it’s REALLY out there. Exploring extraterrestrial abduction, invasion, and assimilation, Disclosure Day promises a mesmerizing and potentially life-changing viewing experience. Are you ready to be altered?

June 26 – Supergirl

Go girl, give us messy adulthood and found family! As part of the newly restructured DCU, Supergirl soars into theaters this June. Kara Danvers is one call away — from getting drunk, starting bar fights, being a bad dog parent, facing her trauma, and maybe adopting a little warrior sister. And people thought Superman was the more interesting cousin!

July 17 – The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan’s latest historic epic is inspired by Greek mythology: Homer’s Odyssey, to be exact. The Odyssey is a breathtaking tale of a man attempting to return home to his wife after the Trojan War. Shot entirely on IMAX cameras, this cinematic version will no doubt feature Nolan’s signature blend of sight, sound, and sweeping emotional arcs.

October 16 – Street Fighter

Got your quarters? Hit play on Street Fighter, a high-octane, vibrant, video game-accurate adaptation of Capcom’s beloved fighting simulator. Chock full of classic, eye-popping characters with their ’90s designs and plenty of wild stunts, the teaser from the 2025 Game Awards already has our hearts — and muscles — pumping. GAME START.

December 18 – Avengers: Doomsday

Finally, MCU Phase Six is here in its full glory. Avengers: Doomsday is the talk of the pop culture scene, especially as Marvel Studios slowly releases a series of character-focused teaser trailers. The first two teaser trailers feature Captain America and Thor. Who will be next in this spotlight series? We’re hoping for some X-Men!
