The 7 Most Iconic Ghost Face Masks for Halloween

Ghost Face® is an undeniably iconic part of the Halloween season. This beloved mask design is one of the most prominent faces in fear during the fall months. Officially licensed by Fun World, the Ghost Face design has appeared everywhere from films to video games — even on your front porch while kids trick-or-treat around the neighborhood! But did you know there’s more than just the classic white mask?

Over the years, Fun World has created many variations on the frightening face to let horror fans “be dressed to kill.” In honor of Halloween, let’s take a look at some of the most iconic and unique variations of Ghost Face.

Ghost Face – Chrome Mask

The Chrome Mask (also sometimes called the Anniversary Mask) adds some extra shine to Ghost Face’s killer persona. Fun World has released numerous metallic masks (in colors like purple and blue), but the chrome-like ones are even more highly reflective and sinister. The most well-known is the silver version, but this shining slasher also has a gold variation for those looking to show they’re the #1 name in Halloween horror.

Ghost Face – Zombie Mask

The Zombie Mask is textured and yellowed, appearing almost mummified and cracked. Large fissures near the eyes and mouth give it a “split apart” look, and purposeful discoloration create an illusion of rot and mold. The original Zombie Mask Ghost Face no doubt inspired the worn and decaying version of the mask (colloquially, the Aged Mask) that appeared in the recent horror sequel Scream 6. Several variations of the Zombie Mask have been released over the years,

Ghost Face – Devil Mask (Dead by Daylight)

Released in conjunction with asymmetrical horror video game Dead by Daylight, the Devil Mask is a red horned take on the classic design. It was introduced as a part of the swappable cosmetics for Jed Olson, AKA the Ghost Face, one of the many playable killers in the game. This Ghost Face had a penchant for snapping selfies with his victims in his pursuit of fame. The collaboration also yielded the Scorched Mask and the Viper Mask designs, all of which became official Halloween costume releases from Fun World.

Ghost Face – Pride Mask

While Ghost Face is usually shrouded in dark colors, this Halloween icon has a more vibrant variation. The Pride Mask is a vertical rainbow-striped color variant that gives the killer costume a unique look among the other blood-soaked or monstrous design changes over the years. Fun World has previously released other masks with color schemes to reflect movements and causes, and horror as a genre has a lot of queer influences. A Pride-themed Ghost Face is a total slay.

Ghost Face – Bleeding Mask

It’s only natural for slashers to get a little messy on the job. The Bleeding Mask Ghost Face costume introduces a clever and frightening feature wherein the mask appears to actively ooze with blood. It’s built with two thin layers holding enough room for red liquid to pass through. The liquid is put into a hidden pump (often shaped like a heart) and it pushes the liquid “blood” up through one tube and it drains out another. The tubes can easily be hidden beneath the black reaper robes of the costume, creating a terrifying effect you won’t soon forget!

Ghost Face – Whassup! (Scary Movie)

It makes sense that a beloved horror spoof would parody one of the most famous faces of Halloween. In the slasher spoof film Scary Movie, a scene where the killer tries to intimidate Shorty Meeks on the phone quickly becomes an absurd chorus of stoned, “Whassuuuup!” greetings. The mask morphs each time the camera cuts back, getting increasingly ridiculous. The final variation, where the killer’s mask has a scrunched up expression with its tongue out, has become a fan-favorite variation on the traditional Ghost Face look. Fun World has even released its own officially licensed version of that mask for the Halloween season so fans can stay chillin’ and killin’ any time.

Classic Ghost Face Mask

You just can’t beat a classic! There’s a reason why Ghost Face has stayed so memorable over the years. Reminiscent of Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream, the hauntingly elongated features and gaping mouth stand out as an unsettling image among smiling jack-o’-lanterns and other monster masks. It’s the foundation this Halloween icon was built on — there’s no disguising that!
