Slice into Marvel’s Official Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer

Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth, the regenerate degenerate himself, is back and redder than ever. The official trailer for the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine is now out. It showcases a super-villain tease, some poignant flashbacks, and plenty of slow-motion action sequences — and of course a cheeky reference to Kevin Feige’s censorship. There’s not a fourth wall that Deadpool isn’t willing to smash and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26, 2024. The first Deadpool & Wolverine teaser trailer already gave us an eyeful back in February. Check out the official trailer below then stick around for some poking and prodding about what we might be able to expect from Deadpool’s highly anticipated first MCU film.

Deadpool & Wolverine Official Trailer

This new trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine doesn’t offer much in the way of plot-confirming dialogue, but we do get to see plenty of action and banter between the titular super heroes. Plus, it seems Wolverine is up to his usual gruff attitude, reluctant to save the day since his past has been riddled with mistakes and heartache. But who better to heal those wounds than Wade Wilson?

Smile! Wait for the Flash

The trailer opens with Wolverine sitting alone at a bar, as he often does. Though the bartender attempts to cut him off, he insists on one more drink. That’s when Deadpool steps in to ask for a dance — which is to say, he needs a partner to help save the world. But Logan has already failed at that before. He’s not looking for more of the same.

Whether it’s the alcohol or something else more sinister, Wolverine has a little trouble extending his claws. Could something evil be at play here? Deadpool seems to think so.

Third Act Flashback

Both Deadpool and Wolverine have some issues to work out. On the one hand, Logan seems to have lost everything — the X-Men as well as his sense of purpose. But Wade Wilson, urged by Paradox (more on him in our teaser trailer breakdown), needs Wolverine’s help in fixing his own world.

In a series of bloody, ruthless action sequences offset by Madonna’s “Like A Prayer,” this Marvel duo clashes at first but slowly come together against a greater threat. We see them walking down a street lined with shops, notably a podiatrist labeled Liefeld’s Just Feet Pharmacy (a nod to Deadpool and Cable co-creator Rob Liefeld’s unique art style). Dogpool also makes an appearance giving Wade a sloppy kiss. In the background of a wide shot, we see a few long-dead or long-missing mutants like Lady Deathstrike, Azazel, and perhaps Toad. The massive purple cloud known as Alioth also rages in the Void. But the biggest question who is the bald woman in Deadpool & Wolverine?

Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine?

Though her name isn’t said out loud, the villain of Deadpool & Wolverine appears to be Cassandra Nova. If she looks slightly familiar, you definitely know one of her relatives. Few Marvel super-villains are capable of wreaking such havoc on the Multiverse as Cassandra Nova. She is the twin sister of Professor X, though technically she shouldn’t exist — he forced her to die in the womb when he sensed her great evil. Talk about a sibling rivalry.

Could her plot in this movie involve Master Mold, or more Sentinels at the very least? When she debuted in Grant Morrison’s New X-Men book, she infiltrated her brother’s mutant team through mind control and Master Mold. Her big act of villainy was committing genocide against the mutant nation of Genosha. In other words, Cassandra is not one to be trifled with. Will Deadpool and Wolverine be enough to take her down?
