Then, there’s the animal characters such as Bambi, Koda, and Nemo. As leaders in the worlds of art and animation, Disney creators combine what we love about real-world animals, wild or domesticated, with vibrant color palettes and human emotional characteristics. The result is always a character or sidekick that melts fans’ hearts.
With the live-action Lilo & Stitch arriving in theaters, we’d really like to know your favorite. So, mirror mirror on the wall, who is the cutest Disney creature of them all? Cast your vote below!
The Cutest Disney Creatures
Stitch
Of course you picked Experiment 626! Stitch from Lilo & Stitch has been a fan-favorite since the original movie released in 2002. This adorable alien is the product of genetic experimentation in outer space. But a little girl from Hawaii tames his tenacious, violent nature by welcoming him into her family. A bad dog, but a great friend, Stitch is beloved by millions of people worldwide — and maybe some up in the stars, too.
Zero
This one’s for the horror fans. Zero is such a good boy — and he’s also a ghost. Playful and energetic, Zero is Jack Skellington’s loyal companion in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). He tries to cheer up Jack when the Pumpkin King is going through his existential crisis, and acts as a clueless but passionate Rudolph when Jack steals Christmas. Surely, picking him in the poll will inspire him to spin and bark and melt your heart.
Meeko
Mischief, thy name is Meeko. This raccoon from Pocahontas is a certified thief — of cookies, trinkets, and hearts. Ready and able to wiggle himself in and out of trouble, this forest critter is often putting on a show and making people laugh. Yet Meeko is also protective of his friends and knows when to stay serious … or when to bring the mood up with costume comedy. Bravo, tiny bandit.
Winnie the Pooh
Oh, honey. Essentially a classic teddy bear come to life, Pooh is a soft spoken, loving, and lovable denizen of the Hundred Acre Wood. Pooh’s favorite hobbies including sleeping, walking in the sunshine, and sticking his paws in every honey pot he can find. Harmless and heartfelt, Winnie the Pooh is truly a comfort character for many. He is a storybook come to life, a reminder to slow down and enjoy the simplest parts of living.
Simba
Who doesn’t love a baby kitty? Lions are large felines that fit inside the “if not friend, why friend shaped?” category. So, already, viewers are obsessed with The Lion King (1994). But we can take it a step further and make Simba an ornery little rascal with a big heart. Well, there’s the best boy. Fond of singing, shirking his royal responsibilities, and getting into heaps of trouble, Simba is the perfect blend of childish and endearing … plus he’s got paws, a nose, and sharp teef. Too cute.
Mickey Mouse
Mickey is the original cutie! From his inception as Steamboat Willie to the anthropomorphic mouse you can meet at the Magic Kingdom, every version of Mickey is lovable. He’s an oversized, optimistic mouse who loves reading, exploring, and spending time with his friends. Mickey also has a whole closet full of amazing outfits, including hats that make his perfectly round ears stick out. That’s the perfect recipe for cuteness.
Flounder
The cutest creatures don’t just walk on two or four legs. And they aren’t all covered in fur. Flounder the fish from The Little Mermaid (1989) has all the adorableness of a toddler. Young and adventurous, Flounder accompanies Ariel on her underwater excursions to shipwrecks and more. In his original animated form, Flounder is also just a sunny sweetheart with fins that resemble a blue mohawk. Way too cute!
