Labubu Film Update
Pop Mart and Sony confirmed that Paul King will direct their upcoming Labubu film. Furthermore, he’ll join Steven Levenson as a co-writer. Reportedly, the project will be a mix of live-action and CGI.
The Challenger Casting
Amazon MGM Studios is developing a limited series about astronaut Sally Ride, in a drama called The Challenger, based on Meredith E. Bagby’s book.
“As the members of the 1986 Rogers Commission interrogate the complex inner workings of NASA to find what, or who, was responsible for the Challenger’s doomed fate, the show explores commission member Sally Ride’s personal journey.
We follow Sally, and the rest of the diverse Astronaut Class of ’78, through the ranks of the shuttle program, through initial recruitment and training, professional and personal highs and lows, until Sally’s historic glass ceiling moment as she becomes the first American woman in space.”
Kristen Stewart (Snow White) will play Sally Ride.
Wheel of Time New Projects
Variety confirmed that iwot Studios is working with Arcane producer and League of Legends veteran Thomas Vu, as well as Anthony Borquez, founder of Grab Labs, an AI development company. The team is set to create new films, new games, and a new animated series.
A Minecraft Movie 2 Casting
Deadline confirmed that Kirsten Dunst is joining WB Discovery and Legendary’s sequel of A Minecraft Movie. Reportedly, “Dunst will play Alex, one of the primary avatars available to players of the Minecraft video games from Mojang Studios on which the films are based. She joins a cast that includes the returning Jason Momoa (Lobo in Supergirl), Jack Black (Star Wars), Danielle Brooks (Peacemaker), Matt Berry (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Jennifer Coolidge (Rick and Morty).” A Minecraft Movie 2 will hit theaters on July 23, 2027.
