Pop Culture Headlines – IDW Five New Series Adaptations

IDW Entertainment Series Adaptations

According to Deadline, IDW Entertainment is collaborating with a host of companies to create a variety of new series adaptations of their comics and graphics novels. Scott Snyder’s Dark Spaces: Wildfire tells of female inmate firefighters who plan the heist of a burning mansion. James Albon’s The Delicacy follows Scottish farmers Tulip and Rowan as they discover a new species of mushroom that will change London’s fine dining scene. Rivers, from Dan Berry and David Gaffney, “is about three ordinary weirdos and one recurring dream.” Filipe Melo and Juan Cavia’s Ballad For Sophie follows a young journalist who inspires a musical superstar to return to the public eye. And finally, Brutal Nature, by Luciano Saracino and Ariel Olivetti, follows a shapeshifter protecting the Maya from the conquering Spaniards.

I Am Groot Premiere

Marvel‘s I Am Groot premieres today. The five animated original shorts follow Groot through multiple misadventures, as he sprouts and blossoms and gets into plenty of trouble. I Am Groot is on Disney+ now.


DC Comics’ Black Canary Film Update

Ever since the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, many projects have been canceled, most notably, DC Comics‘ Batgirl film. In the following weeks, multiple sources have claimed that some projects are still moving forward. Recently, TVLine reported that a spokesperson for WB Pictures confirmed that the Black Canary film is still in development. There is no further news about DC Comics films at this time.


Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles

Netflix and Pokémon released the first official trailer for Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles. Ash, Goh, Dawn, and Brock will work together to defeat the remnants of the nefarious Team Galactic! Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles will premiere on Netflix on September 23.
