Pose of the Day Challenge 7: Ground Pound- Winner Reveal!

Hello again, all of you posers! Judgement for the “Ground Pound” round of Sideshow’s Pose of the Day Challenge is now complete. And what a challenge it was! I have images in my head of seismometers across the world all crying out for mercy over the weekend. And not in a bad way.

The Ground Pound is not a feat to be casually undertaken, and I’m genuinely surprised by how many of you stepped up to the plate for this one. It’s a pose that takes total commitment and a special attention to the duty of care you have for the figure that you are posing.

Each figure has a unique set of tolerances, and not all figures are even capable of performing the borderline-contortionist maneuvers necessary to make a Ground Pound look good. So hats off to all of you brave souls.

Honorable Mention:

This entry by fig_station is pretty close to my heart, because it never would have occurred to me to have a character do a Super Hero Landing…with a pizza!!! But Fig did just that, using this Hot Toys Spider-Man Scarlet Spider Suit from Marvel’s Spider-Man.

I’ve never had this figure in my hands before, so I’m not sure what could have been done to make it better. I’m just damned impressed (and mightily amused) by the creative storytelling involved. Bravo, Fig!!!

Honorable Mention:

Digdoug_42 tackled an impressive Ground Pound using this Hot Toys Iron Man Mark L Diecast Sixth Scale Figure. His technique was nicely enhanced by his choice of camera angle.

The diecast Iron Man suits are natural for this sort of endeavor, and the use of the lights really accentuates the overall badass look. Great submission, Digdoug! Keep them coming!

Challenge 7: Ground Pound Winner!

After multiple Honorable Mention appearances, Anthony Sixth Scale Posers takes home the Sideshow Birthday Pin today with this nigh-textbook Ground Pound using the Hot Toys Iron Spider Spider-Man figure. It’s a tough figure to do this with.

I was especially impressed with his decision to use the mechanical spider-legs to provide an additional point of balance. Again, that might not have occurred to me. And the addition of Cap’s shield as an homage to Civil War was a brilliant touch of storytelling. Nicely innovative, Anthony! Keep them coming!
