Prepare for Pride Month with Upcoming Queer Film & TV

Flip those calendar pages, because it’s officially June! That means things are getting a lot gayer (thankfully). While queer media isn’t limited to Pride Month — Good Omens season 3, Coward, and The Man I Love all just dropped in May, after all — there is a special feeling associated with summer releases. No matter their genre, they become a part of the celebration. They make their mark on the culture.

The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4

• Release Date: June 3, 2026
• Starring: Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Travis Willingham, Matt Mercer, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel

Based on Critical Role Campaign 1, this animated series champions diversity. The Vox Machina adventuring party includes multiple queer heroes, all defying stereotypes as dynamic, complex characters performed by some of the best voice actors on the planet. In the new season, we’ll also finally see gay man Taryon Darrington, whose story focuses on self discovery and burgeoning confidence in his own identity as an aspiring adventurer.

Masters of the Universe

• Release Date: June 5, 2026
• Starring: Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba

Since his very first appearance, Prince Adam/He-Man has become a total icon within the trans community. And there’s no denying that Masters of the Universe — original cartoon and live action alike — has a certain campy quality. Between drag-like transformation sequences, colorful costumes, and rippling muscles, this fantasy franchise really has it all. The latest movie seems to embrace this legacy with open arms.

The Vampire Lestat / Interview with the Vampire Season 3

• Release Date: June 7, 2026
• Starring: Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson

Lestat gets even messier in Interview with the Vampire season 3. With a new title (The Vampire Lestat) and a shift in focus, AMC’s next horror release is a sprawling saga of body glitter and bloodlust led by a “non-discriminating” immortal being. Wherever Lestat is concerned, gender and sexuality are fluid, frequently explicit, and always at play with the side characters, as well as Lestat’s many love interests. Leviticus

• Release Date: June 19, 2026
• Starring: Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen

Leviticus is a dark and mysterious movie steeped in religious trauma. The Australian horror release follows two teenage boys stalked by an entity which takes the form of what they desire most — each other. Comparable to another body horror based narrative, It Follows, Leviticus seems tragic, compelling, and undeniably chilling. It is, perhaps, not the best first date material unless you’re both big movie buffs.

Strung looks toxic and intoxicating. A psychosexual atmosphere intertwines with elegance, charm, and control in a daring release with a deceptively simple premise. Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

For fans of Scream, the upcoming Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a searing, sexy, scary look at slashers and remakes. It is written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun, the visionary mind behind I Saw the TV Glow. Like their previous release, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is horror made by and for queer horror fans — those of us who have wrestled with “monstrous” desires and deep emotional attachment to specific movies, characters, and/or actors.
