And Jurassic Park, then later the Jurassic World sequel franchise, hypothesized what might happen if humans tampered with evolution and brought these apex animals back into the world. Though many of them are terrifying based on appearance alone, their inherent intelligence truly drives home the scare factor. You’ve never really been scared if you’re not being chased down by a velociraptor. Of course, later movies expanded upon human hubris and showed the stuff of nightmares with genetic chimeras like the Indominus Rex. No thank you.
