Sideshow Featured Collector: Jayme Winders

Collector: Jamie Winders

Location: Fairhope, Alabama

How and when did you start collecting?

In 1992 my mother sent me the Death of Superman TPB as a Christmas present. I liked it so much I tracked down the individual comics, which then led into trading cards, statues, Figures, animation cels. I had been broke ever since.

What do you collect? Does your collection have a theme, such as Star Wars, Batman, etc.?

Superman will always be #1 but in 2008 my wife entered me in a contest at the SDCC and we won a 1 of a kind Captain America Honda Element signed by Stan Lee. Since then it has been Supes and Cap. The car is still in storage, as is many other collectibles not pictured.

What makes your collection unique?

I think the variety and timeframe it spams. I have Superman toys as old as 1939 and throughout the 1940’s and cards dating back to 1966. Also the fact that I have many statues and also CGC graded comics to match the characters.

What are your favorite or the most prized pieces in your collection?

1939 wooden Superman doll which took me eight years to find. This was the days before eBay. We were leaving the SDCC and my wife caught his feet sticking out of the bottom shelf of one of the booths. Luckily he took credit cards!

What items are on your wish-list?

Anything villain related to Superman. Anxiously awaiting Darkseid and Lex Luthor from Sideshow. I would also LOVE a Sideshow Martian Manhunter!!
