Sideshow Featured Collector: Fabio Barbagallo

Collector: Fabio Barbagallo

Location: Catania, Italy

How and when did you start collecting?

I’ve Always been a collector, but the piece which started the real collection was the Bandai set “GX-04S – Soul of Chogokin – Ufo Robot Grendizer”; i saw it in a profile photo of one of my MSN Messenger friends and it was love at first sight. It was April the 19th of 2007.

My first action doll was the “Hot Toys Scar Predator”, and my first statue was the “Sideshow Collectibles – Indiana Jones – Raiders of the Lost Ark – Premium Format” ;D It’s been a long trip which is continuing since then.

What do you collect? Does your collection have a theme, such as Star Wars, Batman, etc.?

I collect action dolls and statues from movies, TV series, comics and videogames that i love; no matter the scale, i also collect limited edition videogames, especially if they includes statues.

What makes your collection unique?

Maybe it’s for the rarity of some of its components, or for their exposition and posing; each piece has its own history and is always chosen methodically. I’ve never bought something just to have it; i collect only what I really love.

What are your favorite or the most prized pieces in your collection?

Right now, my preferred are the first “Lady Death” and “Red Sonja – Queen of Scavengers”; they are both Premium Format and Exclusive Editions from Sideshow Collectibles. The most precious, maybe is the “Gentle Giant’s Lifesize Yoda” and the “Neca’s The Crow – 15 inch Limited Edition Statue”
