Sideshow Featured Collector: Steve Porter By Chris Spearman Collector: Steve Porter Location: Warrenton, Oregon How and when did you start collecting? I began collecting comics in the 70’s and have around 6000 or so. I saw my first Hot Toys action figure about 4 years ago and have enjoyed collecting them ever since. The detail and realism in these figures is what hooked me the first time I saw them. The rest is history as they say. What do you collect? Does your collection have a theme, such as Star Wars™ collectibles, Batman, etc.? I collect just about anything that appeals to me personally. I am a huge comics fan and I have a large collection of Marvel action figures and DC action figures. I also am a massive sci-fi nut. I have many Star Wars, Star Trek, Terminator, Predator and many many more action figures in the genera. What makes your collection unique? I love to pose my figures and I will take time every couple of weeks and repose many in the collection. The collection is constantly changing. It is cool to see characters interact that would never come together in the movies. Such as, Adam West’s Batman fighting with Will Smith’s Deadshot. In my collection all things are possible. Since I am a high school teacher I make displays at school for the students to enjoy and I get tremendous satisfaction from doing this. I have included a picture of one of my displays that I set up for my students for your viewing pleasure. What are your favorite or the most prized pieces in your collection? This is a tough question. I don’t tend to collect it unless it really appeals to me. My favorite piece is a Captain America statue from Sideshow. It is the first piece that started off my collection. Other notable favorites are the Hot Toys Hulkbuster from Age of Ultron, Hot Toys Iron Monger from Iron Man I, and Quantum Mechanix Mr. Spock from the original series. What items are on your wishlist? I am still holding out for Cyborg from Dawn of Justice and Baze Malbus from Rogue One. I also am really hoping for an Endgame Falcon, Scarlet Witch, and some of the other characters as well. I would love to see Hot Toys or Sideshow make a Johnny 5 from the movie Short Circuit. That would be awesome.
