Stay InsideShow Pop Culture Picks – Day 18
Due to social distancing, many of us have found ourselves with more time inside than usual. Many of our schedules have changed, giving us the opportunity to try new things. As fans of pop culture ourselves, Sideshow’s Staff is happy to share a few suggestions to help you fill your newfound time with high quality content.
To help encourage everyone to Stay InsideShow, every day this week we will be recommending one film/series, one comic/book, one board game, and one video game that you can enjoy while you practice safe social distancing. These picks are the best of the best, curated and personally suggested by our very geeky staff.

Just Add Magic (Amazon Prime)
If you’re home with some younglings and need a break, this show is utterly fantastic. Not because it’s an enthralling story of three pre-teen girlfriends who discover a magical cookbook (but it is). And not because the magical recipes lead you through a myriad of stories, from mysteries to comedies to dramas to time travel adventures (but they do).
The real magic happens after the show is over and your little ones actually want to make something magical with you in the kitchen!
Pro Tip: Time it right, add a whimsical twist on your recipes and you’ve got happy kitchen helpers making dinner with you every night!

Alex and the Ironic Gentleman
“You’d be forgiven for thinking Alex Morningside was a boy. In fact, she would be the first to laugh at this, because, for one thing, she wasn’t, and for another, she didn’t mind people thinking otherwise. This was because she had an Excellent Sense of Humor.”
Adrienne Kress’ premiere children’s novel is an absolute delight. And The Ironic Gentleman? Yeah it’s a pirate ship. This is a book that should honestly have a TV series, because the imagery is so vivid and powerful, and the characters you meet stick with you. Enjoy it!

The Crow: Fire it Up (Upper Deck)
Ages 17+
This 2+ player tabletop game is a must-have for fans of the classic movie.
Set during the events of Devil’s Night in Motor City, this game plays fast, and can be completed in 30-45 mins.
You can play as the tormented hero Eric Draven and his Crow guardian (aided by officer Albrecht and Sarah), or as the nefarious Motor City Gang (Tin-Tin, Fun boy, T-Bird, Grange, Myca and Top Dolla).
Tile board pieces can be moved around or flipped to create different scenarios, objectives, and even character deaths – so there’s lots of room for multiple plays.
Best enjoyed listening to the OST on a rainy night while drinking whiskey, and wearing black.

Crash Bandicoot/Spyro the Dragon
Simplistic platformers/collect-a-thon games that both have remasters available.
Great for all ages (though Crash might be frustrating for young kids due to the sheer difficulty of some parts.)
Check out some of our recommendations, and as always don’t forget to Stay InsideShow!
