Iron Man’s Armor

Tony Stark is one of the most intelligent people in the Marvel Multiverse. His technological innovations have both doomed and saved the day more than once. One of his greatest and most important innovations is the Iron Man armor itself. Over the years, Iron Man has made modifications to his armor that allow him an immense amount of technological advantages.

He’s had Hulkbuster armor capable of taking out the Hulk, nanotech armor that literally waits in his bloodstream until he activates it, and endosym armor that’s based off of the biology of symbiotes like Venom that doesn’t even require electric energy. And those are just a few examples! His armor is even capable of storing his own consciousness. Plus, Tony never stops looking for the next armor innovation. Iron Man is always upgrading.

Green Lantern Rings

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. Even Black and White! Ultraviolet. Phantom. These are the Rings of the Emotional Spectrum in DC comics. The Green Lantern Ring is certainly the most well-known. Throughout the DC universe, the Green Lantern Ring is acknowledged as one of the most powerful weapons.

Those who wield a Green Lantern Ring can do near anything with their own willpower — from creating powerful energy constructs to translating any language, plus flying and healing incurable diseases (shout out to Simon Baz). Since it’s based on the willpower of the wielder, it seems that the possibilities with the ring are endless, especially if there’s a Blue Lantern around giving it that positive boost of hope.

When you’re as crazy creative as Deadpool, honestly anything can be a weapon. Flying zombie head? Check. His wisecracking mouth? Check. Adamantium skeleton of the best Wolverine in the Multiverse? Double check. But his signature weapon, the katana, is probably his most recognizable battle asset.

Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor! This mighty Uru mallet has a large gray head and a leather-wrapped handle, inspired by Norse myths of Thor’s hammer. It was forged by Dwarven blacksmiths on Nidavellir and has the God Tempest, a sentient cosmic storm also known as the Mother of Thunder, trapped within.

Mjolnir has been wielded by many, and there have been many imitations and recreations of the legendary hammer. Its inscription has even changed before, when Jane Foster took it up as the Mighty Thor. Apart from channeling Thor’s thunderous powers, Mjolnir can detect illusions, change trajectory mid-flight, and can even project images.

Harley Quinn’s Hammer

Not all hammers are forged alike — not all hammers are even magical! For Harley Quinn, formerly Dr. Harleen Quinzel, this wooden mallet style works plenty good, puddin! Trained in crazy by The Joker and reformed by the Bat-Family (sorta), Harley is a bit of a loose cannon. It really just depends on the day which side of her unhinged hilarity you’re going to encounter.

Of course, Harley has been known to hit first and ask questions later. The only rules Harley likes to follow are her own. But you can be sure that if somebody gets the blunt end of her hammer, they probably deserve it. Unless she’s just in a silly goofy murderous mood.

Speaking of weapons that are made to batter and smash, you’ve got Daredevil’s infamous billy clubs. Matt Murdock’s vigilante alter ego isn’t here to bring mercy upon his enemies but he does prefer a weapon that’s non-lethal. Even the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen has a conscience. Most of the time.

Plus, Daredevil’s billy clubs are attached by a chain, which means they’re extendable and he doesn’t have to worry about throwing them. For a blind super hero, projectile weapons might get tricky. These special billy clubs give Daredevil long-range capability as well as hand-to-hand prowess. Now that’s versatility.

Wonder Woman’s Lasso

Princess Diana of Themyscira is bound by her loyalty to her friends. Nothing bonds a person to the truth quite like Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth, or more recently, the Golden Perfect. The Lasso of Truth is a divine artifact held by the Amazons for countless generations. The lasso can be used offensively, defensively, and interestingly enough, even medically. It’s cleared minds and bodies from mind control or toxins.

More than anything, the lasso forces everyone to face their truth, and guides Wonder Woman towards her own truth. The lasso can be used to connect the minds of those who hold it and create true compassion and understanding. As a weapon, it’s terrifyingly powerful. And in Wonder Woman’s hands, it’s more than just a weapon — it’s a force for good.

Catwoman’s Whip

C’mon, those who are strictly super heroes can’t have all the fun — especially when somebody’s got nine lives to prove just how good (or bad) they are. Catwoman is known to slink across rooftops and find her way into places she probably shouldn’t be. Don’t worry though, this kitty has claws and a whip.

At a moment’s notice, anyone who crosses Selina Kyle is liable to meet the business end of her whip. It’s saved her tail more than once during a death-defying fall. And it’s definitely handy in a street fight. With a flick of the wrist and an ear-piercing crack, Catwoman knows how to wield this weapon with purrrfect precision. Not even Batman is safe from getting a taste!

Batman’s Batarangs

Part bat, part boomerang, all awesome. Though they are actually more similar to shuriken than boomerangs, these winged weapons are a staple of Batman’s arsenal, and appear in just about every iteration of the Caped Crusader’s adventures in television and film. This iconic weapon first appeared in Detective Comics #31, published in 1939.

They are a ranged projectile often used to knock guns out of criminals’ hands and to pin clothing to walls while Batman closes the distance. There are also several varieties of Batarangs, including explosive, magnetic, electrical, flash-bang, and saw-toothed Batarangs. Every hero needs a calling card and these belong to the Dark Knight.

Captain America’s Shield

Its simple design makes it easily recognizable. It stands for freedom and true good. What more can be said about the most iconic weapon of all time? Captain America’s shield is made out of more than just Vibranium, the practically indestructible metal material found in Wakanda. It’s made out of an ideal: the ideal of truth and service for the greater good. The star in the middle is like a beacon of light that most heroes look to for their moral compass. Steve Rogers has become the moral compass for countless heroes.

Captain America is Frank Castle’s hero, and as tough and trigger happy as the Punisher is, he will never fight with Cap. In fact, Captain America has tried to get him to fight multiple times, but the Punisher will never punch back. Cap’s shield, able to ricochet off of walls with perfect precision, is the very symbol of Cap himself.

However, Cap’s shield is more defensive than most weapons on this list. Not every weapon is made for destruction. His is specifically made for protection, and the protection of his ideals.
