Toys “R” Us Closing Doors After Seven Decades of Toys and Memories

The news that Toys “R” Us would be going out of business broke earlier this week, devastating the nostalgia of many avid toy collectors and kids-at-heart as these vibrant stores will be shutting their doors everywhere.

The company opened its doors in 1948, and made countless childhood memories for Toys “R” Us kids everywhere for nearly seven decades.  Over 800 US stores will now be closed in this massive shutdown.

To many, Toys “R” Us represents holiday shopping trips, and special family traditions, instilling a special sense of nostalgia at walking up and down the towering aisles of toys.  The toy retailer also became a place for video game releases, card and tabletop gaming, and highly sought-after retailer exclusives in the collectible toy realm.  Some shoppers even remember the store’s iconic jingle, and the smiling Geoffrey the Giraffe mascot.

Whatever your memories of the store, the loss of this iconic retailer is a massive shift in popular toy culture.  Toys “R” Us, you will be missed!
