Storm in What If…? Season 3 and More D23 News

By Sideshow on Nov 11, 2024

If you’re anything like us right now, you are feeling overwhelmed (in the best way!) by the avalanche of Disney updates from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as Star Wars via Lucasfilm. It’s all pouring in and the forecast is nothing short of exciting.

Fresh off the D23 event in Brazil, fans are seeing all sorts of Disney-related news. In addition to the trailers and release dates below, exclusive first looks were shared for Marvel’s upcoming films Fantastic Four (July 25, 2025) and Thunderbolts (May 2, 2025). Keep reading for the rest of the geeky highlights!

What If…? Season 3 Trailer

This year, on December 22, the third and final season of Marvel’s What If…? will drop. Fans will return to the Multiverse in stunning new visions of what could have been across various timelines and realities. Captain Carter and Kahhori will return, and it also looks like the Avengers will be fighting in sync using mecha suits. But the biggest reveal of the TV series’ official trailer is the Weather Goddess herself, Storm.

Alison Sealy-Smith will return to voice Ororo Munroe, AKA Storm, who appears to be in a storyline where she wields Mjolnir, Thor’s iconic weapon. Storm first took up the Thunder God mantle in X-Men Annual #9 (1985). In the comic, her mighty weapon was called Stormcaster. While the larger impact this appearance may have on the MCU is unknown, it’s major news for mutant fans!

Down on the street levels, two fan-favorite characters will also be hitting the screens next year. Audiences received special looks at both the animated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and the live-action Daredevil: Born Again. Spidey will swing onto screens January 29, 2025 while Matt Murdock will face Wilson Fisk’s rise in power on March 4, 2025.

Brave New World Trailer

On February 14, 2025, the higher powers will face further division as Sam Wilson takes flight in Captain America: Brave New World. With Isaiah Bradley apprehended after a mysterious attack, Sam and Joaquin Torres, AKA Falcon, must figure out what’s happening behind the scenes. Political intrigue threatens the entire balance. Meanwhile, President Thaddeus Ross undergoes a rage-filled transformation into Red Hulk.

Andor Season 2 Release Date

Over in the Star Wars galaxy, the power of rebellion never fades for long. The critically acclaimed television series Andor™ will return for a second season. With 12 episodes, this second and conclusive season will bring Cassian Andor and his allies closer to the galaxy-changing events of Rogue One™. Andor season 2 premieres on April 22, 2025.

Other Star Wars updates

Our next Star Wars adventures will take place in the New Republic Era, following the Battle of Endor and the fall of the Empire. Skeleton Crew™ will take fans on a spirited adventure with a ragtag group of children trying to return home. This show will debut in a 2-episode premiere on December 3, 2024. Then, the audience got a sneak peek of The Mandalorian and Grogu, the next installment in the clan of two’s story that will hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

Avatar and Toy Story Updates

Finally, other supremely popular Disney properties had major updates. Never-before-seen concept art was shared for James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, which will be released December 19, 2025. Plus, to celebrate the beloved franchise’s 30th anniversary, Buzz Lightyear appeared in concept art for Toy Story 5, which will be released on June 19, 2026.
