8 Things We’d Love to See in Star Wars: Ahsoka

There’s an excited energy rippling through the Force. We’ve got more Star Wars live-action goodness coming our way, and the good news is you don’t have to reside in a galaxy far, far away to immerse yourself in it. Ahsoka, the latest Star Wars series about Ahsoka Tano™, will take Disney+ by storm when it premieres later this month.

The premise is simple: Ahsoka investigates an emerging threat to the galaxy, particularly as she hears whispers of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s™ return. Other characters getting the live-action treatment include Sabine Wren™, Hera Syndulla™, Ezra Bridger™, and, of course, Thrawn himself. We’ve also got a couple of new faces in the galaxy — Shin Hati™ and Baylan Skoll™. And if you’re looking for connections to other Star Wars series, Morgan Elsbeth™ returns after appearing in The Mandalorian, Mon Mothma™ cameos post-Andor™, and none other than Anakin Skywalker™ will appear in flashbacks.

In honor of Ahsoka Tano finally getting her own show and the plethora of beloved characters joining her, here are eight things I want to see in Ahsoka.

All the Easter Eggs!

Like with any Star Wars property, I want Easter eggs galore. Gimme all the Easter eggs. Firstly, we need callbacks to Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels™. The most apparent, concrete reference we have so far is the inclusion of Huyang™, who first appeared in The Clone Wars episode, “A Test of Strength.” While we don’t know how much he’ll appear in Ahsoka, watching him reunite with our titular Togruta™ will be fun.

Obviously, I’d love to see nods to the Rebels series finale, especially as it pertains significantly to the events in Ahsoka. We know Ahsoka is looking for Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, so it would be great to strengthen that tether between Rebels and this series.

Here’s another exciting Easter egg on my wish list: the recognition of Gray Jedi™. Well, more like the canonization of them. They’ve never been formally acknowledged in the Star Wars cinematic timeline. Ahsoka falls under that umbrella, so why not use her series to make Gray Jedi a reality?

A Deep Dive Into Ahsoka and Anakin Skywalker’s Relationship

Remember when Ahsoka fought Anakin in that “Twilight of the Apprentice” duel? I would love to return to that climactic event via flashback, but in the live-action format. Additionally, we could see sequences not shown in Clone Wars or Rebels featuring these two characters and their relationship. How does Ahsoka feel now that her master is gone? The show could hone in on her undoubtedly complicated feelings as she continues to root out evil in the galaxy.

World Between Worlds

Star Wars can get timey-wimey, too. The World Between Worlds™ was first introduced in the Rebels episode, “Path of the Jedi,” where Ezra underwent various tests on his path to becoming a Jedi™. World Between Worlds, AKA the Vergence Scatter™, can best be described as an amalgam of doors and pathways existing in space-time.

Basically this mystical Force plane serves as the bridge between every moment in time. Like the MCU, it’s all connected here. It would be a blast to flesh this out more, especially with Ahsoka and Ezra’s connection to it. (Based on the trailers, it seems like Ahsoka and Baylan Skoll will face off there.) Plus, it deserves the live-action treatment. I hope it looks trippy as all get-out.

Fun Cameos

Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze confront the Mandalorian fleet on Plazir-15 in Star Wars The Mandalorian season 3

You get a cameo! You get a cameo! Everyone gets a cameo (not the celeb video app)! I think getting Ashley Eckstein on Ahsoka, the original voice for the character, would be the bee’s knees. While she’s purportedly debunked the rumors of a cameo in the series, one can still dream. It wouldn’t be the first time an actor lied about their appearance in a film or TV show. (I’m looking at you, Andrew Garfield.)

In addition, I’d love to see Bo-Katan Kryze™ pop up in Ahsoka to foster that connection between The MandalorianThe Book of Boba Fett™, and Ahsoka. Maybe bring Zeb Orrelios™ back into the fold since he appeared in The Mandalorian season 3. And another Luke Skywalker™ showing wouldn’t hurt since he’s part of the Heir to the Empire story.

Oh, and what about Mara Jade’s™ official live-action debut? She’s also in the aforementioned story. Make it so!

Grappling With the Aftermath of the Star Wars: Rebels Finale

As mentioned above, the Rebels series finale has a strong tie to this show. I’m a sucker for media that puts its characters above all else. Let them drive the story, right? I want Ahsoka to further dissect the characters we know and love by showing them grappling with the aftermath of Rebels. I need to see the emotional impact it has on them. We’ve already seen a hint of that in the trailers with Sabine Wren looking at the hologram of Ezra and when she uses his lightsaber™. Give me all the character introspection, internal struggle, and possible brooding.

Connections to Heir to the Empire

If you recall, the words “Heir to the Empire” are uttered in the first official Ahsoka trailer. Timothy Zahn’s ’90s trilogy clearly inspires it. It makes sense since this is Thrawn’s live-action debut. Captain Pellaeon™ already appeared in The Mandalorian season 3, so I’m sure he’ll show up in Ahsoka

At the very least, maybe we’ll get nods to Luke, Mara, and Talon Karrde™, even if we don’t see them. Obviously, this is still ultimately Ahsoka’s narrative. I’d settle for references to Thrawn’s story, specifically those related to Heir to the Empire.

Bridging the Gap Between The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett

Dave Filoni’s New Republic Era™ film is supposed to conclude the narratives told in AhsokaThe Book of Boba Fett, and The Mandalorian. Perhaps Ahsoka’s way of keeping that tether is bringing in familiar faces from The Mandalorian and Boba Fett. It wouldn’t be too far-fetched to bring in Din Djarin™ himself since Ahsoka made her live-action debut in his series. Maybe Grogu™ winds up joining the Ghost Crew™. There’s a good chance Temuera Morrison is appearing as Captain Rex™, so a Boba Fett™ cameo might be out of the question, but who knows? Boba deserves more screen love.

Lots of Cool Lightsaber Action

This is a given; however, it wouldn’t be a Star Wars property without proper lightsaber action. Baylan has a sweet orange-red lightsaber, Sabine boasts a green saber, and Ahsoka uses dual lightsabers in combat. Just give me all the pretty lightsaber blades crashing together in battle with the iconic whirring sounds, and I’ll be a happy camper.
