How to Audition to be a Sideshow Co-Host
During events like Geeksgiving, Court of the Dead Day, Spooktacular, and more, Sideshow produces tons of livestreams. These include game shows, giveaways, wrap-up parties, and even surprise chats just for fun!
By now, you might be pretty familiar with the faces that make appearances on your screen each month. We banter, interact, and read your comments… but now we’d love for you to be involved, more than as just audience members.
That’s right. You read that right.
We want YOU to audition to co-host Sideshow livestreams. Sound fun? Learn how to submit your videos below.
What are the Audition Requirements?
Consider this a professional audition. As such, hosts will not be randomly selected from the entries, but rather will be judged and selected based on their presentation and performance. For this audition video we are asking you to:
1. Set up your space.
Make sure you have a background that’s either plain or as minimal as possible. Your collection can be shown as long as all products are officially licensed.
2. Consider your lighting, outfit, and overall presentation.
For this video and for Sideshow hosting in general, you will need to be able to be in the shot from your torso up, with ample room between the top of your head and the top of your screen. No floating heads, cut off faces, or partially obscured views. Any fandom apparel should be officially licensed.
3. Film!
Breathe, take as much time as you need to gather your thoughts, and press play. We’re asking for a 1-3 minute video where you talk about your favorite collectible. Showcase it, tell us a little about it, and then tell us why you want to join us as a host and why you’d be a good fit for our team.
Please do not edit, cut, or otherwise alter your footage. We need hosts for LIVE programs, so we need to see how well you flow from one thought to the next and how capable you are of using your allotted time.
How is the Video Submitted?
You can submit your video through this Gleam landing page. Upload your file with your name and contact information and we’ll be in touch if we have any further questions, clarifications, or compliments.
How Do You Know if You’ve Been Selected?
There is currently no deadline for this submission. As soon as the Gleam portal opens, we’ll have an open window of time where we’ll pick a few hosts, then close the Gleam when we’ve found who we need. We will open the Gleam again in the future and promote that opportunity when we do.
If you submit an audition, you could be selected as a host at any time. You will be asked if you are able to participate, but you do not get to pick which event or which show you will be hosting.
You could be coming on to co-host Cobbled Cosplay, Win Lose or DIE, or many of our other themed livestreams that you can explore on our YouTube channel. Ensure you are familiar with these different livestreams so you understand the tone and presentation of these particular shows.
