The Best Star Wars Video Game Characters

By Jasmine Edwards on Jul 8, 2025

Star Wars has almost limitless lore. And what can’t fit onscreen in feature films has been told in television series, books, comics, and graphic novels. Plus, fans can explore the galaxy through Star Wars video games. These games allow players to experience the life of Jedi, Sith, pilots, bounty hunters — you name a job, rank, or position within the Star Wars universe, and you can probably take it for a test run on a computer or gaming system.

Within those video games are some of the most interesting and truly fascinating characters Star Wars has to offer. From Battlefront™, Knights of the Old Republic™, Fallen Order™, and more, let’s meet those heroes and villains below.

Darth Nihilus

Not only is Darth Nihilus just straight up one of the coolest Star Wars characters ever, he’s also one of the most powerful Sith Lords in the galaxy’s entire history. Also known as the Lord of Hunger, Darth Nihilus consumes Force energy. He feeds on himself and the world around him. Never satisfied, always aching for more power, he ravages entire worlds in his quest to quench his thirst. It takes a truly brutal battle in Knights of the Old Republic to defeat this foe.

Iden Versio

In Battlefront II, Commander Iden Versio leads Inferno Squad. This special forces unit is known for utilizing ruthless tactics in order to protect and serve the Empire. At some point, Iden encounters the Rebel Alliance — a fateful fork in her path of evil. Iden betrays her Admiral father as well as her previous ideals to stand and fight for what’s right. Finding happiness and true heroism, Iden is a masterclass in how to change your mind and yourself when it really counts.

Cal Kestis

Cal Kestis is the protagonist of Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor™. These video games focus on the young Padawan who escaped Order 66. Now getting by on scraps and concealing his identity, Cal is forced to train himself when Inquisitors locate him. Through his hero’s journey, Cal discovers even more about the evils done by Darth Sidious and Darth Vader. Plus, he gets a sweet little droid and falls in love with a Dathomorian witch along the way.

Darth Malgus

Darth Malgus is endlessly intriguing. Although he retains the title of Sith Lord, Darth Malgus does not truly subscribe to their system. He considers himself without Master or equal, not even supporting the Empire. Ultimately, Malgus eschews any and all types of control. So while he serves during the Great Galactic War and Third Galactic War, these conflicts only increase his distaste for authority. Untethered in his rage, Malgus seeks only to destroy, to escape all confines or boundaries set upon him.

Trilla Sudari / Second Sister

Trilla Sudari’s story is fraught with misery. She was a youngling at the time of the Jedi Purge. Her Master couldn’t protect her, so Trilla was taken and turned into an Inquisitor. She is an empty vessel of fear, hate, and anger. Adopting the moniker Second Sister, she tries to erase all parts of herself that are Jedi — or even really human. But Cal’s guidance and her Master’s guilt eventually help Trilla see the light once more in a tragic and moving ending.

Darth Revan

Sith cultists revere Revan. One of the first Sith, he is a figure of Star Wars legends. He is an ancient evil, the primary reason the Sith and Jedi went to war. Therefore, Darth Revan is the pinnacle of the dark side and a constant disturbance in the Force. Although he is long gone, his legacy lives on in the Sith Eternal army’s Revan legion — plus in the chants repeated by those residing in the Sith Citadel on the planet Exegol.

Hawks

Star Wars Zero Company™ is an upcoming video game. The single-player tactics game follows Hawks, former captain of the Grand Army of the Republic. In the twilight of the Clone Wars, Hawks now commands an elite squad known as Zero Company. Hawks is described as cool-headed and decisive. He’s willing to work with pretty much anyone, as long as they complete their assignments. Since Zero Company isn’t coming out until 2026, we don’t know much about him — but he seems like quite the character already.
